0:00 Remembering Carl and personal health update
I wish I was here two weeks ago. Tomorrow, I wish I was here. I am honored that I'm in the bulletin. I really am. I thought tremendously of Carl.
I remember regarding Carl when he came and laid out our barn when we were in our Maiden, when we were fixing the barn up. He laid the whole thing out to the to the nth degree as only a NASA engineer could. And he just laid that thing out, and it was... I mean, took in his dear wife... You remember that time you stayed in our basement?
Yeah. So that was that was tremendous. But I just miss him, and I know you you do too. And I think of I think of his life. I think many many are here in Westlake Bible Fellowship because of Carl.
I remember a long time ago, Carl would have a Bible study and many people would go into that Bible study and then come to Westlake. Just just an incredible, incredible brother. Really, really love him and miss him tremendously. And so, you know, you you think about these things. For me, personally, the reason I didn't come is because I had an AFib situation at 02:30 in the morning, Monday morning.
And, so I I get up and I take the pill in the pocket. That's what the cardiologist did instead of going to the hospital. My pulse was 130 to 160. And then so I thought, let that settle down. It didn't settle down.
And I woke up and the spin was faster than the fan. The whole room was spinning. And I tried to make it to the bathroom because I had to go to the bathroom. And I made it to the bathroom, and then I I get this... Wake up.
Wake up. I'm going, what are you waking me up for, Barb? This is so nice. I realized I'm looking at the bottom of the counter. I had passed out, hit my head right here and back and hit my head on the way down, hit my...
I got bruises still from this and that... Now that was at 05:30. And Barb was escorting me into the bathroom because I'm... Things were just going around. I was...
You know, I never see... Do that to a kid. It's really cool, but I'm doing this. Know? And I I just...
I was out cold. And so it was... And that was at 05:30, and that's the time we were due to leave to get here. And so we felt that it probably wouldn't be wise to come. And so that's that's our reason.
And praise God for mister Gonzales. Praise God for Ray. Did a great job. Praise the Lord on that. But Carl Carl's safe and he is experiencing things that we...
Well, that Paul experienced for a little bit. And we're gonna talk a little bit today, and we're gonna go kinda fast in some sections. We're gonna talk, I've been asked to talk on this, we're gonna talk on this. If we can kill these lights here, I don't know how to do that. Amen.
Thank you, sir. Appreciate it. I hate to look like I'm... Oh, I'm a spring chicken. Okay.
We're going to we're going to we're gonna go through some areas fast because, know, what's going to happen in the future? What's going to take place? One of the things we talk about eschatology. When we talk that's eschatology, doctrine of lasting, eschatological. Eschat is like Greek for it.
Last things. And so this is why they have it. The theologians call it eschatology. And the doctrine of last things. What's going to happen in the future?
And this is one of the things that that Carl is experiencing right now is the the few... He's experiencing the future. You know, he's going on. He went on. Death is included in the eschatological program.
And so we're going to we're going to talk about this. And some people get this so confused, so misunderstood. They really do. And there's reasons why they do. And we're going to go we're going to go rather quickly and so forgive me if I'm going too fast on this.
I've asked for a lot of time and we're going to try to make it by 12:15. Actually, we're not gonna try to make it. We're gonna make it by 12:15 on the dot. So what will happen in the future? We will...
What does the Bible say about the future for mankind and for us? Now I brought a lot of material and there's so much material. How much is... How many inches is six feet? 62?
72. Two. Okay. I have 62 inches on a shelf of just books on last things. You know, just shy of six feet books all over things to come.
I just acquired a new book by Mark Chapman, excuse me, Mark Hitchcock. You might want to get it. It's really a fantastic book. Leon Wood, there's so many guys that are talking about things and there's so many people that have variant views on on this but if we keep this straight, I remember one time listening to John Wolverd when I was a student at the Moody Bible Institute and he came and lectured on the rapture of the church and he said this and I think it's absolutely true. If you have your eschatology straight, that is to say, if you're pre mill, pre tribulational, you're going to be straight on other areas of doctrine.
6:57 Hermeneutics: Rightly dividing the word of God
Hermeneutics is rightly dividing the art and science of dividing the word of God. Rightly dividing the word of truth. And that's exactly what what Paul writes to Timothy here, right here. And he says, study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. And this is what we wanna do.
So there's a wrong way of dividing the word of truth. There's a wrong way of doing it and there's a right way. And we have to do it the correct way. Literal historical, this is the guts of this. Okay.
So we have Tepsy. We have the Ezekiel Project School of Evangelism. And one year we had two students who were post, who were three quarter tribulationists. They weren't mid, they weren't post, they were right in the middle of the last three and a half years, and they're called... It's called pre wrath rapture.
Right? And these guys were this. And I thought to myself, how am I going to talk to these guys? This is what we talked about. We talked about this because the literal historical grammatical hermeneutic, It seems really weird but literal means you give the the language of the Bible its normal natural usage.
It's normal natural usage. And by the way, this is the only valid hermeneutic. And then the historical, what's the history of the passage and then also the grammatical. You've got to, you know, if it's a noun, you treat it as a noun. If it's a verb, you treat it as a verb.
It's a bad verb, that way, right? We treat the newspaper this way. We look at allegory and there is allegory in the Bible, but we say versus the allegorical hermeneutic. The allegorical hermeneutic, and we'll see this in a second here, the allegorical, literal meanings that we give the normal natural usage, historical understanding the history of the book and the passages, grammatical understanding the word meanings and their relationship to each other in context, and the grammatical significance of the text studied. What is he saying?
Is it a command? Is it an imperative? Is it a question? We look at all these things. These things are so important for us.
We communicate this way all the time. I remember being in New York one time and I didn't know that this was true, but it said on the newspaper, I think it was the New York Post because the sports page is on the back, it says, Mets are born again. I'm going, they're saved. The Mets are saved. That's fantastic.
They didn't mean that. They didn't mean that. They had a little different meaning for it. Okay? So grammatical meaning to it.
With a literal historical grammatical hermeneutic, there are rules and proper interpretation. You can't you can't say a noun is a verb if it's not a verb. You know you have to you have to rules on this, right? You got to have rules. And one of the things that is really important is that there are rules in the literal historical grammatical hermeneutic.
I hope I'm not going too fast. If you wanna take a nap, this is cool. Okay. But with the allegorical method, and there are guys who hold to that, there are no rules. There are no rules for the allegorical method.
So when we come to the... When we come in Galatians, it says this is an allegory. We treat, grammatically speaking, we treat the allegory in Galatians properly. Like we... Grammatically.
When they say allegorical method, all bets are off. You could make anything anything you want it to be. I've seen this. I have seen this over the hermeneutics. Some of the books that I have on my shelf, use them as examples of how people communicate and it's real...
There's no communication. A guy comes in one time, he's a big prophecy guy. He's a real big prophecy guy. He comes in and he sees his secretary and she says to him, oh, hey listen, I just wanted to tell you something. He goes, what's that?
He goes, I've been looking for some through Psalm 42. Actually I think it was Psalm 40, yeah 42 or 48, something like that. He goes, really? He goes, oh yeah, you want to hear some significance of this? Read this, you know, Psalm 48, you know, it's straight up, you know, and you're reading it.
And he goes, doesn't that sound like the birth of Israel? He goes, oh, yeah. Psalm 48. So he took that as... It's Psalm 48.
In 1948 they became a nation. There you go. There's the tie. Well, let's see if there's more to it. And he wrote a book.
He wrote a he wrote a book. J. R. R. Church wrote this book.
Psalm nine... Psalm 49 deals with all the events of 1949. Psalm 50 deals with the events of 1950 and so on. I didn't see my birth in 1952 in Psalm 52. I didn't see that but you know, this is how people do this and they're...
What they're what they're doing is they're making it up. There are so many guys that make stuff up. What does the text say? Proper hermeneutics. Historically, what does it say grammatically?
What do the words mean themselves? That's why it's a good it's a good idea to study Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. It's because you find out what those words mean and what what is he telling about? What is he saying? So, there are none.
13:44 Why the church is not Israel
Why the church is not Israel? Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.
Let me just say this. Okay. Okay. Alright. This is the linchpin of all of prophecy.
Did you catch that? This is the this is why so many people get so messed up is because they confuse verses strictly for the church or strictly for Israel and they confuse the two. Okay? They confuse it. If you confuse Israel and the church and make them the same entity like covenant covenant theology does, they do that.
They say, well, it started with Abraham. Started with Abraham. No, no, no, it didn't. It started in Acts chapter two. But how do you get there?
How do you get to that? These guys make this stuff. They they say this. The covenant guys say that. So, why is not the church Israel?
Okay. So evidence the church did not exist in the Old Testament. The church did not exist in the Old Testament. Covenant theolog... Covenant, I'm not saying that.
Covenant theologians say that it started with Abraham. The church, us, started with Abraham. And is that true? Well, why here's here's a reason why it did not exist in the Old Testament. The church was not formed apart from the baptism of the Holy Spirit as well as in the baptism, the the spirit's baptism did not take place until Pentecost and the body of Christ equals the church.
Number two, come on, man. Peter's declaration that that the beginning of a new work of god, if you look at when he defended himself before the Jews that he said, we did this. This happened to us as it did to us in the beginning. He's not talking about the beginning of creation in in Acts 11. He's talking about the beginning of the church And you can look at those.
Okay. So he talks about here the the old test... The evidence that the church did not exist in the old testament but the start of the day of Pentecost, Paul's teaching calling the church a mystery. That's interesting. That is really interesting.
Would you turn with me please? Just real brief. Ephesians chapter two. There's so much here folks. I I well, let's just look at this.
Ephesians chapter two verse 11 and if you're writing this down, you want to look at chapter chapter two verse 11, chapter two verse 11, all the way to chapter three verse 12. Two eleven to verse chapter three verse 12. All the way through. Because in chapter two, he says, notice, notice the verbiage here and it says, having abolished in in verse 15, having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances to make in himself to one new man. One new man and making peace and that he might reconcile both to god in one body by the cross having slain the enmity thereby.
In verses 11 and up to that point, verse 11 up to that point, what he was saying was this, he says, you guys, you were Gentiles, you are afar off. Us Jews who are near because we're Jews, we are close. Now, that's all gone. Now, we have one new man. They've been brought together, one new man.
There's no longer Jew or Gentile in the church. In the Old Testament, you have two ethnic divisions. Jew, Gentile. In the New Testament, you have two ethnic divisions, Jew, Gentile, but you have to add the third ethnic division. And that is the church the church and we're going to see this.
We're going to see this and and so notice what he says. By the way, the word mystery, you can you can take this to the bank. You can write this down. If you want to, that the word mystery is used 27 times, 22 times. It is used as a mystery and five times it is used as mysteries.
It all and we're going to talk about that in two seconds, just two seconds but I want you to know, go down to chapter three for this for this cause, I, Paul, verse one, the prisoner of Jesus Christ, for you Gentiles, if you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of god, which is given me toward you, how that by revelation, he made known unto me the mystery. The mystery, as I wrote before in a few words, which when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ. Here's verse five. Jot this down. This is a killer verse.
This is a killer verse. Okay? Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets, going back to verse 20 of chapter two, holy apostles and prophets by his spirit and hath that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and of the same body and partakers of this promise in Christ by the gospel of which I am made a minister according to the gift of the grace of God which is given unto me by the eternal... By the effectual working of his power unto me who am less than the least of all saints. Is this grace given that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery.
So what's the mystery? It sounds funny, doesn't it? Hey, what's the mystery? I'll tell you what the mystery is. The mystery is very clear.
Mystery means this. It means literally our, the uses of it means the secret thoughts and plans and dispensations of God which were hidden from human reason as well as from all other comprehension below the level, below divine level must be revealed to those for whom they are intended. In other words, it was not revealed. It was not revealed. When he uses the word mystery, he uses the word mystery in different venues for sure, but it's primarily used of the church as a mystery.
In other words, God didn't reveal it. And when you look at verse five of chapter three, it wasn't in the old old testament at all. Not a second in the old testament. It's a new thing. A brand new thing.
You confuse Israel and the church, you are going to have a really huge problem when you get to the area of eschatology because you're gonna have to talk about the tribulation. You know, Norman, Larry Norman, when I first got saved, the guy named Larry Norman, a rocker who got saved, and he wrote a song, I wish we'd all been ready, guns and wars and etcetera. I don't know all the words. But he used it, he based it off of Matthew 24. And he said, we wish one was taken, one was left, and all this kind of stuff.
Well, listen, Matthew twenty four and twenty five are not dealing with the rapture of the church at all. They're dealing with the tribulation. It's dealing with Israel. Twenty four and twenty five are dealing with Israel. And we're going to show that in a few seconds.
Oh, man. Okay. So you have the mystery here. It didn't start, the church didn't start until the death of Christ. Ephesians chapter two verse 11 through 19.
It didn't start, the church did not start until Christ died for the church. It didn't start. It didn't start and it couldn't start without the foundation of the apostles and prophets. These are not old testament prophets, these are new testament prophets. And so here, this is where you have here in the, you know, the foundation of the of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone.
Well, the thing is about this is this is a whole brand new thing. He's not reconstituting Judaism. What he is doing is he is he is doing something brand new, something totally brand new. The church could not start without Jesus' promise of building it in the future. I will build my church.
Matthew 16 tells us this, And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will. Notice the tense. This is where the grammar comes in. I will build.
And I've already built it and we did it with Abraham. A lot of explanation, big footnote, You know, no way. I will build my church. And then the church could not start until the ascension of Christ. And then you have here other reasons why the church is not Israel and not the same entity.
Here we go. There's differences. If you find, and you can jot this down, if you wanna jot this down. You find one difference between Israel and the church, Israel and the church are not the same. If you find just one, we're gonna give you a whole bunch.
Okay, four fifths of the Bible is written about Israel, one fifth the church. Israel is a physical place, physical entity. The church, spiritual entity. They have... Israel is one.
You've got German Jews, you've got French Jews, American Jews, etcetera etcetera, right? Many nations. Many nations from all walks of life. Israel, everyone went to the temple in Jerusalem. Everybody was to go to the temple.
Everybody was to go there, right? And that's inward. What did Jesus say? Go into all the world and preach the gospel. This is not the temple, this is a building, you know.
We're to grow and to know, we're to know and then to grow, and then we're to go. That's what we're to do. And then you had, Israel had a priesthood. They had a priesthood. The Bible teaches that we are a priesthood.
We are. That's big. I've given you... Let's see how many is that? One, two, three, four, five so far.
You get just one. Israel and the church are not the same. And then their God is Jehovah God, we have Father God. We have Father God. And then you have here, they're Messiah for the church.
He's the savior, bridegroom, head of the body. Colossians one. The Holy Spirit was with them. Here's a biggie. The Holy Spirit was with Israel.
Right? This is why David prays, take not thy Holy Spirit from me in Psalm 51. Right? But the Holy... The the Christian never prays that because the Holy Spirit is in you.
The Holy Spirit is in you. Holy Spirit is in the church. Their covenant or their rule of thumb is the Mosaic Law for us, it's grace. It's not the law. Galatians, I mean look at Galatians, look at Romans, look at the Gospel of John.
It is grace through faith alone, in Christ alone. And then Israel is the unfaithful wife yet to be restored. The Bible teaches that the church is the bride of Christ. The bride of Christ. So, okay.
27:36 Daniel chapter nine and the seventy weeks
The seventieth week of Daniel. Okay. So you have here, and we're gonna go... Try to go through this rather quickly. I want you to notice this.
Look at Daniel chapter nine verse 23. So Daniel's praying. Right? He is praying and he's he's he's really asking the lord to forgive him for his sins even though there's no sins recorded regarding him and he's praying for the nation and this kind of thing. And here comes here comes Gabriel and tells him that he is well beloved.
And verse 23, in the beginning of thy supplications, Gabriel is speaking to Daniel, and he came forth and I come to show you for you are greatly beloved. Verse 23 in the middle. Therefore, understand the matter and consider the vision. So that must mean that we can understand the matter and understand the vision because he's telling us this. Okay.
So he says this, he says, seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression and to make an end of sins and to make reconciliation for the iniquity and to bring in everlasting righteousness and to seal up the vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. Know therefore and understand. Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem. Okay, so when did that happen? If you look at Nehemiah chapter two verse one, this is when Nehemiah goes before Artaxerxes and he is, you know, as hard as pining for Jerusalem and he wants to go back and he says that you're troubled.
Know, what's... Artaxerxes says he's the cup bearer, right? Nehemiah is. He's drinking. If I die, if if Nehemiah dies, Artaxerxes is not going to take it, you know?
So, this is what a cup bearer does, right? This is his job. So, they get kind of close. This guy is willing to give his life and so, he says, You look troubled, what's up? He goes, Oh my city, Jerusalem, it's in the shambles, it's bad news.
And he had somebody, he had come back from there and they gave a report how bad it was. And he said, and he was really upset. And so what does Artaxerxes do? Artaxerxes makes a decree. Nehemiah two makes a decree, verse one.
And he makes this decree and he sends him back. This is what Daniel is getting here. He says from the commandment, understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem unto Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks and threescore and two weeks. Somebody help me with that. What's the math on that?
That's 69, right? Yeah. I went to MBI, not MIT, so... Or RIT. And MIT or RIT, I don't know.
And so you look at... That's supposed to be funny, but that wasn't that funny. Okay. Thank you. Thank you.
I appreciate that. I appreciate you appreciating me. And so he looks at this and he says, so the prince seventy weeks, at sixty nine weeks the street shall be built again in the wall and in trouble is times. And after... Point, get this, okay?
Look at this. This this is like exact exactamundo here. After threescore and two weeks, Messiah shall be cut off but not for himself. So what you got going here is you've got a timeline, this is Daniel's seventieth week, you've got a timeline and then that timeline says this is the decree and if you look at Nehemiah two, it's four forty five BC. Four forty five BC.
In fact, Sir Robert Anderson in his book, The Coming Prince writes, it's March 14, four forty five BC. March 14, four forty five BC. So this is when it took place, going forth of the commandment and then he says this, he says he got seven weeks and then you've got when the rebuilding of Jerusalem is completed. Seven weeks, by the way, when you say seven weeks, the Hebrew seven heptats or seven weeks of years. The Hebrew is clear on this.
King James put seven weeks, but it's seven weeks of years. That's forty nine years that this takes place. And so it's three ninety six BC, the rebuilding of Jerusalem is completed. And then you have another sixty two weeks or four hundred and thirty four years that takes place. And though...
And so this is when you have here the sixty nine weeks are completed until Messiah the prince's first coming. His first coming, and Sir Robert Anderson puts that at April 6, can you imagine this? April sixth, thirty two AD. I read Mark Hickok and he said it was '33. So I, you know, but I look at this and I look at Sir Robert Anderson's work and he gives all the work based off of a three sixty three sixty year prophetic year.
Not three sixty five and a quarter but 360. And so you have the first coming and that's thirty two AD When Christ came and was cut off but not for himself. One of the problems people have with prophecy or they should have with prophecy is that you can have within a verse, you can have a gap of time Within a little bit of a semi colon or whatever, you can have a gap of time that takes place. So look at look at the look at verse 26, and after threescore and two weeks Messiah shall be cut off and not for himself and the people of that of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city of the sanctuary and the end of it shall be with the flood and unto the end of war of desolations are determined and he shall confirm, he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week in the midst of the week shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease for the overspreading of the abominations he shall make it desolate even until the consummation and determination shall be poured out upon the desolate. You go, oh, that's, you read too fast.
Well, do our homework on this. This is called the abomination desolation. This is called the abomination desolation. So what happens is this, you have interlude, the prophetic clock stops, and it stops with the church age. It stops.
Stopwatch has stopped. You got sixty nine weeks of years, right? Sixty nine weeks of years or and eighty three. What is needed to come up to four ninety or seventy years? It needs another week of years to come to four ninety and that's what the that's what Gabriel said.
36:46 The rapture of the church is a mystery
I shall show you a mystery, right? This is what's so cool. We're going to see Carl again and he's going to be vibrant and and boom. And it's going to be happen. I shall show you a mystery.
Why is he call it? Why does Paul call it a mystery? Because it's part of the mystery of the church. That's why he calls it. It's not something.
He's he's telling us this. He's not keeping it from us. The mystery is the church. You have the rapture of the church and then you have an unknown date near the future, the... Where the antichrist makes a covenant with Israel and starts the seventieth week, starts the prophetic clock again.
And that's where it happens. This is where we we are going with this. And so this is what takes place. You got three and a half years, it's seventy weeks or seven weeks of years. In other words, seven years.
And you have a three and a half years and then the antichrist commits abomination desolation. You say, come on man. This is just so complicated. Well, let's uncomplicate it and turn to Matthew chapter 24. Let's let the lord Jesus uncomplicate the matter because in Matthew 24, he's going to show us not about the rapture of the church.
He's going to talk to us about this prophecy. So, they come to him. The disciples come to him in the early part of Matthew 24. They come to him and they say to him, lord, show us what's going to happen. What's going to take place in the future?
A shorter loose paraphrase and he says, okay, here's what's going to here's what's going to happen. Here is what's going to happen and he's basing it. He's he's showing us. He says, nation, I'll go against nation. People will kill each other and verse eight says, these are the beginning of sorrows.
Okay, you ladies who have had kids, you know this to be a fact. This is translated in the Greek birth pangs. And so they have these birth... There's nothing surprised about this. This is not talking about this is not talking about the rapture which is boom in the moment in the twinkling of an eye.
That's a surprise which could happen at any moment. It could happen at any moment, the rapture. This is talking about this is talking about the the abomination desolation. And notice what he says here. It's actually the seven the seven years of tribulation.
And then you have the one week of years and then you have the lord Jesus Christ coming and then you have his thousand year reign. We ain't done yet. So, you you talk about church age and the rapture of the church which we can talk further down the line maybe in May, we talk about that but when we look at this, then you have an undetermined period of time. So, the church gets raptured. Boom.
Gone. Raptural. People say, well, people made that up. No, they didn't. No, they didn't.
When they took the Latin Vulgate and they translated the Greek word for snatched away with violence. That's literally what it means. The the guys who wrote the Latin Vulgate translated it rapturo. Rapture. This is where we get the word rapture.
We don't get it from somebody just, let's just, you know, it wasn't John Nelson Darby, you know, sitting in England just trying to figure this out. No way. No way. This is called scripture. There's a gap of time.
Nobody knows how long that gap of time is because the the tribulation does not start with the rapture. The tribulation starts with the signing of the covenant. Notice in Daniel, Daniel tells us and he shall sign a covenant with Israel. He's going to sign for one week of years. What he's going to do is he's going to promise them peace.
This antichrist is coming on the scene and there's so much material on this. Thessalonians talks about this. Second Thessalonians specifically. Then from chapter six through nine, if you want to know what the tribulation's going to be about, look at Revelation six through nine. They'll, it'll tell you Revelation six through nine and so then you have here the middle of the week of seven years.
Hey, Chris. Is it six through nine or six through 19? That's what I said. There's nothing more boring than perfection. I appreciate you interrupting.
I mean that's good. That is good. If you got a question I'd be happy to field these questions to the best of my ability. But you have here, I'm gonna go really rather quickly if this will respond. The seals, seven seals, and they're not these are different seals.
42:24 The judgments of God and the great tribulation
And in the middle of this week of years, in the... After three and a half years, these are divine judgments coming from God. And they're birth pangs. I mean, by by the fourth one, by the fourth one, a quarter of the world's population is dead. By the fourth one, a quarter of the world's population is dead.
If we have 8,000,000,000 and that's what they're telling us, so what's a quarter of 8,000,000,000? 2,000,000,000, gone. 2,000,000,000 history by the fourth seal. And it's just unbelievable. You have the four horsemen of the apocalypse or what they call the revelation.
But then what happens is this, you know, these are the beginning of Psalms or birth banks right in the middle here. Notice I have Daniel nine twenty seven but look at Matthew chapter 24 verse 15. They wanted to know and he said the gospel will preached and he says, and when you therefore shall see the abomination desolation. This is Jesus speaking to us. When you see the abomination desolation as spoken of by Daniel the prophet.
Stand in the holy place. Whosoever readeth, let him understand. That means I go back to Daniel nine and I look at that. He confirms with a one week. He makes his covenant with Israel for one week, right?
He says, then let them go down in Judea. Then what he says, look at verse 21, for then shall be great tribulation such as never was since beginning of the world to this time no, nor ever shall be. So what happens? You have this guy and in second Thessalonians he sets himself up, this antichrist sets himself up as God. Second Thessalonians chapter two.
We will never know who this antichrist is if you know Jesus as your savior. Because you will be raptured out of here. Gone. You will never know, never know who he is. He will set himself up as God Right here.
And this starts what is called the great tribulation. The seven year tribulation is not the great tribulation. The last three and a half years of the Tribulation is the Great Tribulation. And so you see the judgments here. You have the trumpets and they telescope right into one another.
So the last seal is the first trumpet and notice the intensity. Revelation eight:nine, and then the bowls telescope right in here. So you have 21 total, you have 14 the last three and a half years. It's unprecedented. It's unprecedented.
He actually tells us if this wasn't marked out, if we didn't mark this out, no one would ever survive. No one would ever survive this. This unbelievable. We think we got it bad. I know guys who think we're going through the tribulation now.
Well, Christians have tribulation in this world. Jesus said he'll, you know, be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. But that's not this tribulation. The church will never be there. The church will never be there, why?
Because they've been raptured, they've been taken up, snatched away with violence in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. Boom, gone. I love this. And then at the end of this, the second coming. So people confuse the second coming and the rapture.
Actually, if you wanted to be kind of technical, the second coming starts really at, the second coming of Christ really starts at the rapture, and then ends way over here with the millennial reign of Christ. So what happens is this, this is the second coming of Christ in which he comes. So a lot of guys have a lot of differing views on when the rapture takes place. We're not gonna get into that. But we have to say that it's pre tribulational, pre millennial.
It's before the millennium. Because there's a period of time after his second coming, there's a seventy five day gap. Daniel chapter 12 tells us this. You do add up the numbers, there's a seventy five day gap and I think we get four of the seven judgments in, or three of the seven judgments in this. The judgment of angels, the judgment of the Gentiles, and the judgment of tribulation saints, and judgment of the Jews during this time.
Seventy five day gap. Yeah? You said seventy five actual days? Actual days, yeah. Oh yeah, Daniel chapter 12.
Absolutely, just do the math on that. Because there are three, twelve eighty days or sixty days. I think it's sixty, right? Yeah, twelve sixty days and then just add on that. And then it's thirteen thirty five.
Yes, yes. And so that right comes up to seventy five and so you have seventy five days, a seventy five day gap, and then you have after that the thousand year reign of Christ in which the Lord Jesus Christ literally takes the throne of David and rules for a thousand years. Wow. He's shown us this. He has shown us the end of the story.
49:04 Overview of future events and living in hope
But this is the overview of of what is going to take place. And as sure as you're sitting here, it's not my interpretation. It's called the interpretation of the word of God. Well, what about those guys who disagree with you? So what?
There's guys who don't believe that New York City exists. I can't help that. I cannot help that. What I can help though is to be a good hermeneut, and that's not a little animal. A hermeneut is a person who studies to show himself approved unto God.
Workmen that need not to be ashamed. Now we can we can show you this if you're using the normal natural usage of the of the word of God. If you use the grammar of it. If you look at the historical aspects of it. And you can see what's taking place.
The table is being set. The table's been being set. So one last thing. The next thing on God's calendar, I'm gonna tell you this. The next thing on God's calendar, people talk, you know we're living in the last days.
Paul thought that same thing too. Paul thought he was living in the last days. The next thing on God's calendar is this. The rapture of the church could happen at any moment. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, boom.
This could happen. So what does that mean for me? He who has this hope in himself purifies himself even as he is pure. Behold what manner of love the father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called the children of God. And it doth not yet appear what we shall be but we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is.
Rapture, boom, with him in the air. And then, he that hath this hope in himself purifies himself even as he is pure. That's our task, is to live lives because He could come at any moment. We don't know when. If you got some guy telling you when, avoid them like the plague Because he can't tell you that.
Only the father knows. Father, we just thank you so much for this grace that you have given to us in the person of our lord Jesus Christ. He is full of grace and truth and thank you for your redemption and thank you for this plan that you have given to us. We ask you lord god that you would just help us to live in light of the plan. Help us in light not only light of the plan, but also the person.
Help us to live in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ and what he has done for us and what he is going to do. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
