0:00 School of Evangelism update
I have to say that, you probably... Nobody asked, but you probably were wondering how the Ezekiel Project School of Evangelism is doing. Thank you for not asking. No, thank you for asking. I appreciate it very much.
We upped the ante this year in our school in terms of our course offerings. And, we have four more people who are working with us full time. And you know them and it's, the people who are working with us, John and Karen Louden from Zambia, and, their son Nathan and his wife Chichi. Nathan and Chichi are not here yet because Chichi, who is African, can't get a visa yet. But it's in the pipeline, hopefully.
We're praying for that. But John and Karen who was... Have been on the field for over thirty seven years, thirty two years in Zambia flying for CMML flight service. And they've retired from that and are joining us and teaching, hopefully, teaching our students. Not hopefully, he's already in the in the gear already.
So teaching missions, that's that's his course. And and so Nathan will be coming probably around mid October, Nathan and Chi Chi and their son Jonathan. So we're excited about that. And so we've had to spread the coursework out a little bit, which is good, which is really good. And then also, one other thing that we have done that...
I'm wondering if it's a mistake. We're offering Greek one and two. And I'm taking Greek one, that's why I thought it was a mistake. I'm actually taking the course and, my son has had mercy on me. JC is teaching it.
You know that he is getting a degree in ancient near eastern studies from the University of Michigan. And so he's in his third year of Greek and Hebrew, and he just finished a course on the whole year in seven weeks. Can you believe that? Latin. And I just, my my fame to Latin is pomme de terre, you know.
That's that's tremendous. If you have no idea what Latin... I just said Latin. I mean, Latin. I...
It was Latin. Anyway, he's... I'm thinking to myself, this guy knows four he knows four languages. Maybe even pig Latin too. Not sure if he knows that.
You know, so there'd be five languages. So I'm taking I'm taking I'm taking Greek and I'm finding it, actually in all candor, I'm finding it fascinating. I really am. I got 100% on my first quiz. Yes, alpha, beta, gamma, delta, no alpha, beta, okay what is it?
You missed one. I'm a crowd. But at the time I took the test, the quiz, I got them. I actually got them. But we had to do it to a wrap, I couldn't do it to twinkle twinkle little star.
So me and the guys are students, know, we've got just one girl and five guys and we're like going alpha beta get... I always... Okay, okay, okay. Take it easy, just because you pledged. Yeah.
Just because you pledged and that whatever week that was at BW, you did it. Okay. So we did the wrap on that and we were going to do the glasses and do a video on it. Those guys, I actually have it on my phone if you ever want to hear it. These guys, anyway, it's really weird.
So we're doing well and the Lord is really blessing. We're going in the open air. You go on Wednesday, is that what you go on Christian to? Okay. So we go we go in the open air on Wednesdays.
We went down to Wayne State University this past Wednesday. And they had the foaming lip guys there with the big signs and they had all these other guys. And it was an education for our students to see. It was really cool. And so that's good.
That's the little update on us. Also, if you're wondering, I have two grandchildren. I've got an iPad I can show you. I know you're really interested in those. And the grandkids, they're the most beautiful grandchildren in the world.
Or maybe their most beautiful grandchildren in Michigan? Okay. Alright. Alright. And I don't know what it is about, you know, Ray.
Ray did not call me. Yeah. Ray Ray, stand up. Will you, bro? Yeah.
That's right. He did not call me, but this is the... This must be spiritual emphasis week or something, I don't know. Must be spiritual. I did pray about what to wear and really did.
Oh, you know, I grew up in this neighborhood so I'm a Cleveland Browns fan. That's like morning. Yeah, pray for me. Yeah, right. How does a guy keep his job and be one and thirty two?
You know, I don't... It's it's beyond me. But they won and they got a they got a good quarterback and all this kind of stuff. So anyway, I was raised in Willoughby. I was born in Mansfield, raised in Willoughby.
And in Willoughby, when you're raised, Willoughby was like our town that I live in now. I live in Richmond, Michigan and it's a small town about two miles square. And we got it maybe above, I don't know, 8,000 people or less, right? Something like that. Barbie, no idea, right?
Okay. So I grew up in Willoughby and in Willoughby you have these, you know, we... It was baby boomer time, right? So the neighborhood was chock full of kids. And so we played, we played baseball, we played, I was Rocky Calivito, I was Mickey Mantle, I was all these great players in those days and I played them, I played outfield with a catcher's mitt, it was not good.
And so, I mean, it was just a kind of thing. And so one of the guys there was named Georgie. And Georgie, we called him Georgie, his name was George. We called him Georgie though, but he was one of the guys that got picked on a lot and cried a lot. And you know, it's just like a whiny cry.
7:30 Encountering Georgie and Eckankar
Right. Years later, I got married, I got saved, got married and I see Georgie in a Sears store. Now I'm 20... I got married at 21 so I'm like 22, something like that, maybe 23. And I see Georgie in a Sears store and I say, hey Georgie, how you doing?
I should have probably never called him that. I just upgraded him to George. And just, Georgie, how you doing? He goes, hey Chris, how you doing? I'm going, I'm doing good.
I'm doing good. I told him how I trusted Christ as my personal savior and how the Lord forgave me of my sins. He goes, Oh, I am in touch spiritually. I said, You are? And I'm, you know, this is great.
This is fantastic. He goes, yes. In fact, I'm so in touch I have visited Saturn. Now I know you laugh at this, right? He wasn't laughing.
He wasn't like tongue in cheek. I don't even know where that came from. Know, he wasn't winking at me. He wasn't doing anything like I'm I'm kidding. He was very serious.
I said, and I had to take him that way, I'm going, you're, you visited Saturn? He goes, oh yeah, Pluto. And he starts naming off some planets. You know, you're thinking a lot of things but I did not articulate what I was thinking. I I really tried to because I, a whole host of junk comes into my mind at that time.
And I'm going, oh man. And so he says to me, but I knew he was serious. I said, you you have? He goes, oh yeah. Absolutely.
And I said, how did you do that? He says, I believe in Now if you've never heard of Eckencar, it's a cult. And it's it's being written on by different people. You can look at good solid brothers who have written against Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, etc. And Eckencar is listed among the cults and written on.
And I didn't know this though. I had no idea what Eckencar was. And he started to explain it to me that he can be in his living room and he can soul travel. From his living room he can soul travel to these different places and then come back. And he told me that Jesus was an Eckmaster.
That Jesus was not the son of God, he's not God in the flesh, he's not any of this, he's an Eckmaster. He is the Eckmaster. And I'm going, what in the world? And I thought to myself, this is... He's dead dog serious about it.
He wasn't kidding. That this was his spiritual awakening. That he would have this soul travel. How would you handle that? What would you say to that?
I mean, What would you say to that? Interesting. Interesting. The chapter I like us to look at is first Timothy chapter four. I have been asked if I would do this chapter.
And in other words, preach on this chapter. And I believe in expositional preaching. So I really do. And I wanna look at what the chapter has to say. What the chapter has to say.
And it's saying, virtually, similar to what, you know, how would you do it? Notice what he says. He says, now the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. Speaking lies and hypocrisy, lie... Having their conscience seared with a hot iron.
Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from foods which god hath created to be received with thanksgiving by them who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good and nothing is to be refused if it be received with thanksgiving. For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Interesting. I would say that when we look at this passage, we're going go to the verse 14 as well.
But when we look at this, God gives us, gives you and me two imperatives. If I all of a sudden went a little bit, you know, I said, hey, we got to get out of here now. We got to go now. Exit door, exit door, exit door. Boom, out of here, right?
You would have to say, Chris, grammatically speaking, you'd say that's an imperative. It is imperative that you move now or there's going to be consequences. God is giving us two imperatives. Right here in this passage. And the first one that we just read in verses one through five is the imperative of a warning from God.
14:04 Verses 6-16: How we are to walk
If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you should be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in words of faith and of good doctrine unto which thou hast attained. But refuse profane and old wives' fables and exercise yourself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profits little but godliness is profitable unto all things having the promise of life that which that now is and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For therefore, we have...
We both labor and suffer reproach because we trust in the living God who is the savior of all men especially of those that believe. These things command and teach. Let no man despise your youth but be thou an example of the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee which is given thee by the prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Meditate upon these things. Give thyself holy to them that thy profiting may appear to all. Taking heed unto thyself and unto the doctrine, continue in them. For in doing this thou shalt both save thyself and them that hear thee. Well, this is really imperative for us to do.
Notice, you know, from just the pure language, if we were just to break this down grammatically speaking, we'd see a whole bunch of commands by God to us to act. So, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. You came today. Isn't it great? I love I love being here.
I do. I love Westlake Bible Fellowship. Barb and I left really early this morning, And we drove all the way and got here, and we got here early which is miraculous. That was a miracle too. Okay.
So that's just absolutely a wonderful thing that we could do this, and I just really love to be here. But why in the world are you here? Why are you here? We're here because what we want is reality. We're not gonna find reality anywhere else except the word of God.
We're not going to do it. Your word is as good as mine and my word is no good. I want God's word. What is he telling us? I live, move, and breathe, I want to, by the word of God.
Not somebody's interpretation of the word of God, but by the word of God. That's what I want. And when I look at this text, I see warnings, and I see a warning for us, and I see how to walk in wisdom. He is telling us how to do this. And you know what?
I better pay attention to this. This is not a game with God. Paul is writing, this is his second, so you write, you know, in terms of order, you've got first Timothy, then you've got Titus. And then he writes his last epistle. And that would be, the last epistle Paul ever writes is second Timothy.
But he knows the warfare that's taking place within Christian church. The fledgling Christian church. He knows what's taking place. But see, what I love about the word of God is, it is not only what Paul is saying but it is for us to embrace. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine.
For alpha, beta, delta, yeah, no. For reproof. For correction. For instruction in righteousness. How do I live except by the word of God?
I don't know how to do it. I'm not going by Oprah Winfrey or Doctor Phil. I'm not doing it. They're not going to give me what God can give me and wants to give me. So he's warning.
He's warning us. Then we see the wisdom. How do I walk? We have a, we're, we're in an urgent walk. In second Timothy, he says, we are in perilous times.
If Paul says he's living in perilous times and he died about sixty eight AD and he wrote that maybe sixty five, sixty seven AD, when he said he was in perilous times, what do you think we are in now? If that was perilous times, what do you think we are in? And you know what the real killer is about this? Satan is so smooth on this one. If he can't frontal smack you in the face with error or with, he will be subtle.
20:31 The danger of drifting like body surfers
Yeah. But I did it in Southern Cal. And the storms were really cool because the waves, action, all this kind stuff. So one day my friends and I, it was just amazing. You know?
And I actually entered into some competitions on body surfing. That was a joke. And so I remember, we we would, you know, the big guard stands, I think this was at Malibu. We were the big guard stands and so we were so smart. We took our shoes and we put our keys in the shoes.
No one will know. Need a check up from the neck up. But, so we put them in the shoe, the toe of the shoe, and then we put a little berm around this, kind of dug him down a little bit, a little sand action, put our stuff there. This is great. We went bodies, full body wet suit, flippers, we were serious about this stuff, right?
So, we are in the water for about an hour and a half. We come out to that same guard stand and we look at the... All our junk is gone. What a moron I am. Keys to the car, I don't even have that little magnetic thing underneath the wheel well.
I can't, you know, it's over. Wallets, all this kind of, gone. I'm looking at the card stand. With my flippers, I feel like really a big dope. And I'm going, wait a second.
Is this the guard stand? Because in Southern California, you look, you take a step back, everything looks the same. I'm going, is that the guard stand? Wow, that's really weird. No.
No, that's not the guard stand. The guard stand was like number 20 3 and our, this one was not number 23. So I took the flippers off and we walked a mile. We walked a mile. And all of a sudden we found the guard stand.
There was all our junk, keys in the tows, everything. Yeah. Yeah baby. We drifted and didn't even know it. That's what Satan does.
Satan wants us to drift. The benchmark for us, the guard stand for us, is the word of God. So we don't drift. And notice what he says in verse one, the very first verse of this chapter. Now the spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith.
The warning against those who depart. Some shall depart from, and the article there according to A. T. Robertson in the Greek, the article is there, the faith, the body of information. Not just faith but from the faith.
And the thing that we're looking at in this particular verse is that people are departing from that. And you'll notice this, this, this, the word departure in the noun, in the Greek, the noun, it's a noun, you see it only used twice in the New Testament and it's a departure. And it's a departure from Moses and also I believe in second Thessalonians chapter two, it's a departure of the rapture of the church. If you have the prepositional phrase there, from preposition, the article, faith, the object, you have this departure from the faith. And so when this word is used people are departing from something.
They're departing from the faith. And he's telling us, the spirit of God is telling us this morning as he told the... As he penned this, when he wrote this under the inspiration of the spirit of God, when he penned this and he's warning us now and it's a warning against those who are departing from the faith. Departing from the faith. People are doing this.
The guy that led me to Christ, I don't know if you know this little history but the guy that led me to Christ. You know, when somebody leads you to Christ, have a great respect for them. You have a tremendous respect for them. Incredible. I did.
I had a great great respect. So I have a tendency to listen to him. I have a tendency to listen to what he had to say. But my friend who led me to Christ named Dave, he got involved with a cult. And that's exactly what this is talking about, forbidding to marry, don't marry Barb.
I was dating Barb, actually we were engaged and they were pressing me not to marry my wife, who was witness Lee in the local church. It was that group. And my friend got so ensnared and it took him twenty, twenty three to twenty six years to get out of it. And it's just absolutely horrific. It almost, it was just horrible.
Just a horrible type of thing but you come in with us, don't marry her, come in with us, come in with us. Warning flags were going off. I had no idea what to say about it. I had no idea what's wrong with these people. What's wrong with this?
So I thought to myself that I don't know anything about this. What is this, you know? They were saying we have no doctrine, we have all this kind of stuff and I don't want to reconstitute the whole thing before you but one of the things that is interesting to me about this is that I had no idea but the flags were ping, they were flagging all over the place, something is wrong. I thought to myself, I don't know anything about this. I have no idea and I respected my friend Dave because he led me to Christ.
But I didn't know that he could be ensnared, That Christians can be ensnared in these things. And so I called the only guy I knew that could give me an answer and that would be Walter Martin. Who wrote the book, The Kingdom of the Cults. And he was the, probably the world's foremost authority on cults and all cults. And Dave Hunt being one or the other.
And I thought to myself, I didn't know Dave Hunt at the time so I called them. And I got his research associates, Bob and Gretchen Pasentino, and they stepped me through. And you know what they stepped me through with? Doctrine. Doctrine.
Doctrine on the Trinity. Doctrine on the church. Doctrine all the way through. It was outstanding. I was...
I taped every one of them, know, I had this little rubber suction cup with a wire to my recorder. You know, big thing and then recording my conversations because I had to replay and replay and replay because you know why? I want to tell you right now, you know what it was? My spiritual life was on the line. Not that I would lose it, no I didn't think I would lose it, but get ensnared in it.
And thus be non effective. Non effective. This is what Paul is doing to us. He is telling us and warning us of these particular of things that are going on. Now notice what else he says.
There are people who are departing from the faith. And if you don't think that this can happen to you, you better think again. You better think again. Because this can, if we're not vigilant and if we're not on guard, we have deer coming in the back of our house, not into the house, but in the backyard we have deer because there's woods and such and they come out and they've apple trees and they come and eat the apples and all that kind of stuff, right? You make this, I tap the glass, ping.
29:28 Being on guard against seduction
Right? This is how we are to be. We need to be on guard. In fact, he tells us this, Peter tells us this. We have a roaring lion seeking about whom he may devour.
Whom resists steadfast in what? The faith. So the faith, once delivered, so the faith is right here, we hold it in our hands. Whether it's in the phone or whether it's on paper. That was really funny, one time I was at the breaking of bread and I said would you turn with me?
I got up and this is in New Jersey, would you turn with me too and I'm turning and I'm, you know how you just normally hear stuff, turning of pages. No, I didn't hear that. I heard, I heard tapping. All of them had iPads and iPhones. But they were turning.
And it's the word of God for us And we look at this and we say, okay, what are they... What is he telling us? Departing from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of demons. This is not good. Giving heed to seducing spirits.
When somebody is trying to seduce you, they're not going to come up and go, they're not going to do that. What they are going to do is, hey, Mrs. Pharaoh, not Mrs. Pharaoh, Mrs. Potiphar, with Joe, right, with Joseph.
Joseph! Was she going, I'm ugly. You know? No, no, she was going, Joseph, kissy face, huggy bear. Joseph, kissy face, huggy bear.
She's trying to seduce him. So much so, she, everybody goes out of the house, and she's with him alone. Joseph. Hi there. Okay, so we go, that's seduction.
That is a seduction. Okay, so. Seducing spirits do the same thing. And if we listen to them apart from the word of God, we're in trouble. Because we will buy it.
We will buy it. If the word of God is not paramount in our lives, it's over for us. I've just got to tell you, it's over for us. In fact, I'm I'm pretty adamant about this because of what not only what happened to me, but the word of God is telling me that if I remind you of this, I'm a good minister. If I remind you of this, and I was telling, when they asked me to speak, you know, would you do first Tim four?
I'm sure, I'd be honored to. And then I looked at the chapter, it's probably my swan song. You know, it's over for you Chris. That's right. Whatever God leads.
But here's the thing, the person that gets up behind this desk at this time every week, if they don't know the word of God and give it to you correctly, not only shame on them, but you should never have them back. I'm serious, that's serious. And when you have the elders here in this assembly, the elders in this assembly, you know, let's just understand a couple of things. I've said this before here and I'm positive. But being an elder in an assembly is a living martyrdom.
It is. I ask the question, when was the last time, and I've said this before here or, you know, in other places, but when was the last time you came up to an elder and said I want you to know that I am praying for you and we love you in the Lord, thank you so much for your service. When was the last time you did that? And when was the last time you prayed for them? Because their job, their job is to protect what is being taught from this and protect what is being taught at Awana and protect what is being taught in bible studies home or abroad, you know, here, here or abroad, different places.
That's their ministry. And they will stand before God and give an account for that ministry. Did you know that? They have a higher standard. So as the scriptures tells us, don't give them grief.
The scriptures tell us that. Who watch out for your souls. Don't give them grief. Who watch out for your souls. He's telling us here to watch out, to be really on guard on this.
He's warning us. They speak, in other words, not only seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. Boy. But they speak lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron. I've got to tell you, friends, gotta tell you, we fired a guy in our school who lied to us regarding doctrine and taught our students false doctrine.
And when I asked him after we fired him, I asked him why did you do this? He said and why did you bring it on so long and why did you do this? Not being forthright, not being upstanding, but lying to us. He said, well I really like the Ezekiel project, it's a good work. You're gone.
You're gone. It took me... I've got to tell you something, I went to school, I went to Moody Insta Bible Tute, and I've studied doctrine and all this kind of stuff for a long time. It took me a year to figure out what he was saying. You know why?
He was slippery and he lied and he was hypocritical. In fact, it split our staff and we lost 50% of our staff because of that because they went after him. Oh my. So I want you to know something. If you think that Westlake Bible Fellowship is going to be this way all the time, I want you to know something.
You ought to think again. It's a fragile flower. This assembly is a fragile flower like every other assembly. There was an assembly in Canada over the issue of the the kenosis of Christ was the God man. The kenosis of Christ, Philippians chapter two.
Right? And they had a... The guy said, no, he wasn't always God. And those guys didn't do a thing about it. The leadership didn't do a thing about it.
Boom, right in half, the whole place divided, right in half because they refused to look at it and deal with it. Folks, I gotta tell you something. You cannot get political on this. You gotta get biblical on this. You've got to say and you've to pray for those elders of this assembly that they would not only know and be discerning But they would have the spirit led fortitude to do something about it.
38:10 Speaking truth in love
If there is no truth, there is no unity. There is no true unity without true truth. The coin of Francis Schaeffer's expression, true truth. If you don't have truth, if you don't have the word of God, rightly divided, you have nothing, you've got a club. There's no unity without truth.
There is none. It's not the Cleveland Browns that brings us together. It's not the Cleveland Indians. It's not any of that kind of stuff. It is truth.
And notice what they say, their conscience is seared with a hot iron. So these guys, these guys are unmoved by this. Did you ever talk to somebody about something, you know, important to you and you give great reasons why they should believe something, right, and they just look at you like a stone wall. Right? These teachers have a conscience that is seared with a hot iron.
In other words, there's no nerve endings on this. They're not sensitive to this. You know, you look at the New Testament and people think you're unloving if you name names or if you go after people and say this, then I guess Paul was unloving because he said Alexander the Coppersmith did me much harm. So as Moses withstood Janus and Jambres, so these must be withstood. And this is our job.
As Christians we need to be discerning and as the elders of this assembly, as true to every eldership, when there is air they have to stand up and say no way. Is that popular, is that warm and fuzzy? I want you to know something, not popular, not warm and fuzzy, very tough and the messenger gets the hit. The messenger gets the hit. When Harold Linzel wrote the book Battle for the Bible and it was before publication, I talked to John Wolford from Dallas, chancellor, president, then chancellor of Dallas.
I talked to John Wolford and I asked him about this particular issue because he was going, he was naming names, he was talking about all these guys regarding the issue of inerrancy and the inspiration of scripture which people were lying, they were signing a doctrinal statement saying they believed in it and going teaching the opposite of it. Fuller Seminary, etcetera. They were doing this kind of thing and so you know what John Wolver told me? He said they're going to shoot the, he said when I, Harold asked me to review the text before it went to publication. He said Harold, they're going to get you, not the issue.
Shoot the messenger but don't address the issue. I've got to tell you something, that actually happened. Oh, Harold and Zelda is a divisive individual. All this kind of stuff, wrong. The issue was divisive.
It was very divisive. And then notice in verse three, forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving to them who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good and nothing is to be refused if the... If it's received with thanksgiving and it's sanctified by the word of God and prayer. If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and good doctrine.
You know it would be an interesting word count sometimes, how many times the word doctrine or teaching is used in this chapter alone? It's a number of times. It's a number of times. We are encouraged by the word of God to have good doctrine. I just got to tell you, I know the time is history and I'm the late Chris Schroeder.
43:05 Commanded to know the word of God
We must, all of us, every one of us need to know it. And if we don't know it, start to know it. We need to know the word of God. It will save your theological life and your spiritual life. And this assembly will be vibrant.
Not in the aspects of numbers, that's cool, but that's not how you judge an assembly. You judge it by its depth. Not numbers, we can pack this out. There's a $10 bill in each hymnal. We'll get a lot of people.
Just put that on the sign in front. $10 in hymnal. Know, I mean you'll pack it out. But if you start teaching the word of God and start teaching doctrine, people say, well doctrine divides. No it doesn't.
No, I mean you'll have people who are going to come in here and say to you, here's what the bible teaches. And that's why study to show yourself approved unto God, workmen that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. We need to know. Just like Esther or perish. Serious business?
Look at the rest of this chapter. Look at what the rest of the chapter is telling us. Give yourself to this. Give yourself wholly to this. You know I've been reading the biography of William Tyndale.
William Tyndale went up against the Catholic church. He did and there's only two games in town. And the Catholic church owned the game. And what they did was they said, said here's his, I'm going to give the bible in your English. This is where we got the Tyndale translation but we've got the King James from that.
Beautiful language, all this kind of stuff. It'd be well worth your read. You know what? The Catholic church wanted to get him. Sir Thomas More wanted to get him.
And he was England's inquisitor. He had more people put to death. Because they did not go with the Catholic church, they went with the bible. Put him to death, kill the heretic. They wanted to get Tyndale.
Tyndale went to the Mainland. He went to Geneva and he went to different places and published his bible. Amazing, just amazing. So they finally, they finally, the way they got Tyndale, they got a guy coming into him and acting, his name was Phillips, coming in and saying, I'm your friend. He had all the credentials, highly educated, all this kind of stuff, and Tyndale took him in.
He went out after befriending him and living with him and all this kind of stuff, and got the guys to get him and they put him to death. Seducing spirits, speaking lies and hypocrisy. We need to know. We need to... And I've got to tell you this, you will grow.
You will grow. So if you're thinking back there, if you're thinking, oh, I'm just a kid, you know, no, no, no, it's up to you. It's up to you. My friend John Young, he wasn't saved. In fact, at the time he called me, wasn't saved, wasn't even my friend, but he was the boyfriend of a girl, a Christian, unequally yoked, big time.
47:58 John Young's father visited Saturn
Then he throws in this, he throws something right into me, like a change up. He goes, what if Chris, this is before, he says, Chris, what if I told you my father has visited Saturn? This is after Georgie. I'm thinking, where'd you park your spaceship, you know? No, I didn't think.
I said, so what if I told you that my father has visited Saturn? What would you say to that? I'd say, it's a deception based off of what Satan did to the Lord Jesus showing him all the worlds at once. It's a satanic deception to get him off of the real issue, and that's Jesus Christ. Oh, and so we talked some more and he came to Christ.
Praise God, right? Praise God. I said to him, I said, look it, after he trusted Christ, said, John, why did you bring up the Saturn thing with your dad? He goes, I just wanted to see what you'd say. I just wanted to see, what do you, you know, he's like busting me.
49:35 Urgent walk in perilous times
They're being attacked like never before. They're being attacked in your high school, they're being attacked in your colleges, they're being... And it doesn't matter. They are being attacked. We must know.
Not only to grow but how to counter and give the truth. Father we ask you that you would help us and bless our deliberations regarding this. I pray Lord God that you would make us apologists, defenders of the faith. And that we would know the word so well that when we see a counterfeit, we would know it. And we ask these things, Lord.
Help us, we pray. In Jesus' name, amen. Thanks for having me. I feel like...
