Outline and transcript

0:00 Who is Jesus? Background and explanation

Who is Jesus? What what I want you to do before we even read the text, I wanna give a little bit of background and explanation, and I think it's gonna help us appreciate it more and understand it better. Alright? So I I called it who is Jesus because this is exactly what's going on. There's a a debate going on between Jesus and the people, the Jews, the multitude.

They're they're called two different things. Just started in chapter five when he's arguing with the people that that live in Jerusalem, and they wouldn't accept his claims. So then he moves up to Galilee, which is where we're at here in this case. Again, it's a debate. It's really a debate at who is Jesus?

They're trying to, in their mind, comprehend who he is. So that's why we called it who is Jesus. There's two groups being addressed. I want you to be see this as we're as we're looking at it. The Jews are are the multitude as they're called and also the disciples.

So when it's talking about the Jews or the crowd, it it it's the people who who are on the outside looking in and trying to figure out who this Jesus is and if his claims are real or not. The disciples are the ones that are on the inside, but they're still a little confused and still trying to figure out who is this man. Is he really the prophet or not? So as we're looking at the text, I want you to be noticing the difference and noticing the two groups as they're being addressed. Also, the expectation did I make that big enough?

I hope I did. If not, there's plenty of room up front right here if you all want to come on up and sit down close to me. Yeah, all right. Nobody took me up on that one. All right, the expectation.

So you have to understand what the people were thinking in order for this text to make more sense. You have to get into the people's mindset. So, so here's what they were being taught since they were little. They were being taught Deuteronomy eighteen fifteen through 19. I kind of skipped the verse in between and I just put, I kind of highlighted here what what you need to know.

Deuteronomy eighteen fifteen, the lord your god will raise up for you a prophet like me. It's Moses speaking. From among you, so he's going to come from the Jewish people from your countrymen and you shall listen to him. Verse 19, and it shall come about that whoever will not listen to my words, which he shall speak in my name. That is god speaking now.

I, myself, will require it of him. In other words, I'm going to judge whoever doesn't listen to this prophet that's coming. And so you have to picture that the Jewish people were were in bondage to the Romans. They were being told in their synagogues and in their homes, constantly, there's going to be a prophet coming. He's the Messiah.

He's going to be the sent one. And we can't wait till he comes. And so the people are waiting for him, but their expectations were a little bit different than what you would imagine. But but shifting over back to the disciples, I want you to picture growing up in church with someone. Right?

So I grew up in church with with Joel. Right? And we're hanging out. We go to each other's home for dinner. You know how we tend to do?

Hang out in each other's homes. You know the parents. The parents know you. You go to each other and and all of that. You're growing up together.

And then all of a sudden, this guy gets to a certain age, and he comes up to me and says, hey, guess what? I'm the messiah. I'm like, you're what? Yeah. I'm the I'm the Messiah.

It's like, okay. Alright, Joel. You know, what what did you eat? So, you know, so something something gotta... And and I'm the prophet.

I'm the one that's fulfilling, you know, Isaiah 61 and Isaiah 53 and and all of those prophecies. Deuteronomy 18, I'm the one. And it's like, wait a minute, but didn't we hang out when we were little and we played together and don't I know your parents? And and all of a sudden, you're coming up with these statements. And so you have to understand, to the people, he was so common.

He a real man with parents and all, because they mentioned that in chapter six down the line. You'll see it. That they were having a hard time understanding, well, how can you be that prophet? And they're like, wait a minute, but weren't you raised in Nazareth? Isn't he supposed to come from Bethlehem?

And so they were trying to connect dots, and they couldn't make sense of it. But then he comes up with something even more bizarre and he says, well, not only am I that prophet, the Messiah coming but I'm I'm actually god. Okay. Now, Joe, you're really losing it. No.

What do you mean? What do you mean? So, you gotta understand how the people were taking this. What? You you're you're what?

You're not only saying that you're the prophet, you're the one, you're the chosen one. We grew up with you and play with you. We know who you are and all of a sudden, you're saying not only that you're the prophet but that you're god? That's that's a little bit too much, right? Now, you gotta think also at the time, there was a lot of guys saying that they were the Christ.

There was a lot of guys at the time also who can do magic. Right? So so Simon, for example, acts chapter... What is he? Chapter seven?

He was doing all these magic tricks, and people were, like, amazed with him. They thought that, you know, he was from God. And so those those magicians, those are people, you know, who could do all kinds of weird things. And so they're at him, and it's like, okay. Is this the real one?

And so you can see that throughout the throughout the book, the gospel of John. So that's why you have to understand the expectation. This guy's gonna come. We're right now... We're we're subject to the Romans, and and it was not uncommon for them to to walk down the road and see people crucified that they knew because they tried to oppose the Romans.

And so they were very bitter against the Romans. They wanted somebody to free them from this oppression. And so their expectation was it's going to be some great guy that's going to be a great leader that's going to finally break us out of this and and they couldn't wait for him and so Jesus starts saying, I'm the one and and so they're looking at him and they're trying to figure it out, who is this man? Now, another thing they were doing is they were picturing him kind of like Moses. God told Moses, go into Egypt, the powerful, powerful country of Egypt, kinda like the Romans were so powerful.

And you're gonna go in there, and Moses goes, and he literally, through Moses, through the 10 plagues, destroyed Egypt. He tore them up. Right? You look at the the text. When they left out of there, there was nothing left.

And so the plagues came down, and then they crossed the sea. So there was... They were looking at supernatural signs. And so to to the people, Moses was this this hero who freed him from Egypt, this powerful nation. By the time he was done with them, they were destroyed.

He was doing all these supernatural signs and god was providing for him and then suddenly also they're in the desert and and food was coming every day and he was he was feeding them if you will. And so they were looking at him, okay, you're going to be like Moses, but then you're to give us food. You're going to free us from the Romans. You're going to do all these things. So keep that in mind as we're reading the text.

7:40 The Jews question Jesus' claims

We don't know how to take that statement. We don't know how to take that. The fact that you're saying that you're god and verse forty five forty, you you are unwilling to come to me. Jesus saying this to the to the people, to the Jews that you may have life. And so the people were not willing to come to him.

Notice chapter 10 and verse 24 also. Ten and twenty four. The Jews therefore gathered around him and were saying to him, how long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly. Of course, he was telling them, but the truth is that they weren't believing what he was saying, That he was the Christ, and they just couldn't they couldn't come to terms with Jesus and who he was.

So having said all that, are you all ready? Let's go ahead and read. And I want you to notice the two groups then, the disciples and the multitude of the Jews and the multitude. There's two people throughout the whole chapter six, and next week you'll see the rest of it that are being addressed. And as we're reading it, I'll make a little mention of it so that you could kind of be on the same page with me.

After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea Of Galilee after he was in Jerusalem, Judea. They rejected him. So he goes back up to the Sea Of Galilee to the north, and a great multitude was following him. There's your multitude, the people, because they were seeing the signs which he was performing on those who were sick. So everybody started mobbing him, following him around, because he was doing healing people who were sick.

And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. Now the Passover was the feast of the Jews was at hand. Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, seeing a great multitude was coming to him and said to Philip, where are we to buy bread that these may eat? Now I want you to notice how he's addressing the disciples. And this he was saying to test him, but not only him but other disciples, and I'll show you why in a minute, for he himself knew what he was intending to do.

You see, the disciples were still not convinced that that he was god. They were already pretty much leaning in the fact that he was the Messiah but but that he was god claiming to be god. That's a whole different story and god was going to show the disciples through this following miracle that he was god. Philip answered, 200 denari worth of bread is I'm sorry, 200 denari worth of bread is not sufficient for them for everyone to receive a little. Were like, do you realize what it's going to take to feed these people?

A ridiculous amount of money. This is impossible. Verse eight, and one of his disciples he's still dealing with disciples. Another, Simon Peter, his brother, said to him, here's a lad who has five barley loaves, two fish, but what are these for so many people? Jesus said, have the people sit down.

Now there was much grass in that place, so the men sat down in a number about 5,000. Now, if you look at the Matthew and the Mark text, you're realize that it says plus the women and the children. So let's try to estimate how many people were there. 5,000 men plus a woman. Maybe they were not married, but maybe other women were there.

So let's make it 10,000, right? And maybe some kids were running around. I don't know how many they had each. So let's do a conservative number. Let's say there was 12,000 people.

That sound good? Give or take a little bit. All right? So more or less 12,000 people. It's a lot of people to feed.

All right, 11. Jesus therefore took the loaves and having given thanks, he distributed to those who were seated. Likewise also the fish as much as they want it. And when they were filled, he said to his disciples, gather up the leftover fragments that nothing may be lost. And so they gathered them up and filled 12 baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

When notice here the reaction of the crowd. Now we're shifting to the multitude. When therefore the people saw the sign, the feeding thereof were fed, he had performed, they said, this is of a truth, the prophet, the one from Deuteronomy 18, who is to come into the world. And notice their natural reaction to this, their thought process was this. Jesus, therefore, perceiving that they were intending they said, since he's a prophet, we may as well do this, to come to take him by force and to make him king.

13:15 Jesus' purpose and the disciples' reaction

Because Jesus was trying to accomplish two different things with these people. 16, now when the evening came, the disciples went down to the sea and after getting into the boat, they started across the sea to Capernaum and it had already become dark and Jesus had not yet come to them And the sea began to be stirred up because the strong wind was blowing. And when when therefore they rode about three or four miles, they beheld Jesus walking on water on the sea and drawing near to the boat and they were frightened. But he said to them, it is high. Do not be afraid.

And they were willing therefore to receive him into the boat and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going. So, we see here actually two different miracles taking place. The first miracle was the feeding of the 5,000. The second one was Jesus walking on water and actually, it should be a third one but everybody kind of lumps them together. Once he got into a boat, into the boat, just like that, they were already at shore.

They didn't have to do that anymore. Pedo. Is that how you said pedal? Right? Pedo.

Pedo? Pedo. There you go. Remar. I said in Spanish, it would be right.

Okay. There you go. So all of a sudden, they're there. It's like, wow, that's cool. You're talking about a speedboat, That was fast.

Boom, they were there. Okay, now here's what I want you to notice coming up. All right, the reaction of the crowd how they responded. Number one, okay, let's make him a king and start a revolution. That's the way they saw it.

Here's a prophet. He's gonna free us from from from the Romans. Wow. He he he's got power. Look what he could do.

Let's make him a king, and we're going to rebel. Okay. Secondly, he gives us food and health. They were watching him healing all the sick people, so they started following him, And then he provided food. And it's like, hey, we like this guy.

We're going to make him king, start a revolution, because he's going to give us food and health. Next. But they still weren't convinced. We're going to see this in a minute. They say, hey, show us another sign.

I went, we like the one you showed us, but that didn't quite do it. How about another one? How about another one? So they were still not convinced. And then finally, you have seen me, is what Jesus says to the crowd, and yet you do not believe.

You do not believe. So that's that's the the reaction of the crowd. That that's what happened with them. Okay, now the disciples, you can see the progression here with them as well. Right, first of all, they lack faith, and they were constantly doubting Jesus.

Now secondly, pretty soon, they fell down and they started to worship him. Alright? That's their second reaction, and we'll see this in a minute. And thirdly, they believe and they said this, you are certainly the son of god. You are certainly.

So, you can see the two crowds, two different reactions, two different responses to who Jesus is. So, who is Jesus to you? Who is Jesus to you? Was he just some prophet, some guy that can do miracles, some guy that could give you food when you need it, that can make you healthy when when it's there, but that's all he is? You know, some great historical figure, and then you leave it there?

Or are you convinced yet that he's God? Because whenever somebody worships in the Bible, they worship only God. The Bible makes it clear. And then they come to the point where they could actually say, you are certainly, without a doubt, after we observed you, here's our conclusion, you're God. You're God.

Now remember, that's the point of the Gospel of John, that you would believe that he is the Christ, that he's God, the one that can save you. So that's what the argument is here. So the multitude is watching Jesus, and they preach, and they're to get into a debate with him. And then the disciples are watching him, and they're trying to figure him out too. Who is this guy?

All right. So you have to answer that question by the time we're done. Who is Jesus? Who is Jesus? All right.

Now let's let's address the crowds first. All right. Boom. First, right here. Verse fourteen and fifteen.

When, therefore, the people saw the sign, the other feeding which he had performed, they said, this is of truth, the prophet who is to come into the world. According to Deuteronomy chapter chapter 18. 18. That's right. Chapter 18.

Right? And fifteen and nineteen. That's what this is. This is that prophet. That's the prophet.

Right? So so that was that was their reaction. Right? Now, if you read the bronze bowl, my daughter's got give it to me to read, and it was fantastic Daniel, the main guy in it, in the Bronze Bowl, says this. The writer, by the way, did a great job of going into how the people felt, the culture, the history, and how they felt against the Romans.

So this is what that guy says and a quote. If he's a prophet, this Jesus, the one who's going to lead us out of bondage, what is he waiting for? Why isn't he doing anything? We're going to make him king. We're to raise up an army, and we're going to go attack the Romans and take care of this issue.

We're sick of it. And so the people were frustrated that if he is the prophet, then what is he waiting for? Why isn't he doing something? John MacArthur says this. They wanted an earthly deliverer, one who would meet all their needs, food and health, and being freed from the Romans.

So they were thinking they could march to Jerusalem, overthrow the Romans, and establish the ultimate social welfare state. That's it. So they wanted him to be the one because they were selfish. Here here's here's a dude that that that can heal us when we're sick and and we can see that he provides food. Wow.

And and look, he's got power because look at how he can do these things. That's what we need. We need to make him king. And what did Jesus do? I didn't come for politics.

I didn't come for politics. There's something more important. We'll look at that in a minute. He didn't come for that. I didn't come to be a a revolutionary leader that he's going to take care of that in the second coming.

20:21 Turning attention to the disciples

Alright. Now, the feeding of the 5,000 is actually mentioned in Mark, and also Matthew and Mark. And it gives us more insight, because John kind of just touches a little bit, but doesn't give you the reaction, all right? So go with me quickly to Matthew chapter 14. Let's go to Matthew 14.

Let's go to Matthew 14. We'll be quick. And I'm going to skip a lot of rhetoric, we're going to just get to the verses. Verse 32 Matthew fourteen thirty two, and when they got into the boat, the wind stopped. And those who were in the boat worshiped him saying, you are certainly god's son.

So, when they saw Jesus coming and and walking on the water, that that was a reaction but but but watch this. Go with me to to Mark chapter six now. Go go to Mark chapter six. And I want you to notice verse fifty and fifty two through 52. All right, for they all saw him and were frightened, but immediately he spoke to them and said to them, take courage, it is I, do not be afraid.

And he got into the boat with them, and the wind stopped, and they were greatly astonished. So it's the same story. When he was walking on water, they saw him, and they freaked out, and he said, it's me. He got into the boat. Well, look at look at what it says in verse 52.

For they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves when he fed the 5,000, but their heart was what? Hardened. Hardened. So, when he fed the 5,000, the disciples still weren't convinced that he was god. They were hardened.

He's like, alright. I mean, that that was pretty amazing but I'm not ready to go there yet to say that you're god. And that's okay. Sometimes, we struggle and we have to look at ourselves and what do I really believe? Who is Jesus?

Who who who am I following? I want to be convinced and I want to know who I'm following. So the Bible makes it clear these guys were hard hearted. They couldn't see that he was God yet. Yeah, yeah, he's a prophet probably.

He's the Messiah. But God? I'm not ready to go there yet. Take a look at chapter eight and verse 17. Eight seventeen of Mark and Jesus, aware of this, said to them, why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread?

Here we go back to that again. Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart? Having eyes, do you not see? Having ears, do you not hear?

And do you not remember when I broke the five loaves for the 5,000 and how many baskets of broken pieces you picked up? And they said to him, 12. All right. And so he goes on to say more things. But what is he saying to them?

What does it take to convince you? What does it take to convince you? I mean, come on. Who in the world can feed 12,000 people just like that? I mean, we know this story.

I've heard it since I was little. And you think, oh, yeah, yeah, the little boy came and gave the bread and the fish. He gave him up. But think about it. Think about it.

I was at a men's conference in Houston in the Astrodome, and they had to feed thousands of men, and it was a huge undertaking. These several semi trucks came backed up full size semi trucks full of boxed lunches, and it took hours to unload all the boxed lunches and hand them out to everybody. It cost thousands of dollars. Right? You try to feed that many people.

Mean, we had the marriage conference. We fed 90 people here, and the people who did it were their hair was popping up, they were all like, wow. That's just 90 people. We tend to undermine or not really grasp the fact that Jesus, an instant, the food just kept coming. Think about it.

Just let me grab some food, and then turn on, there was more, and more, and more, and more. And at the end, everybody was so full, and they were still picking up leftovers. It was enormous. It was enormous. The crowd freaked out.

But notice go back to John with me. I want you to follow with me. This is such an intriguing story, chapter six. Go back with me, and I want you to notice what's going on here. So they wanted to make him king.

They wanted to start a revolution. They wanted to attack the Romans, and Jesus had nothing to do with it. Right? Six fifteen, the latter part. He withdrew himself again to the mountain by himself alone.

He pulled away. I I I came to save people from sin. I didn't come to start a revolution. Alright? Now, notice as the conversation continues, and I know I'm skipping some things here in a minute, but I want to jump down to verse 24, six twenty four.

26:14 Jesus addresses the crowd's motives

Jesus answered them and said, he skipped the question altogether. He didn't even answer that. Don't worry about it. You don't believe me anyway. Right?

So don't worry. I'm not even gonna answer that. Here's what he says. Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, watch this, not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled. You know why you're following me?

Be... Because this is Meals on Wheels, right? Meals on Wheels. Here here comes the, you know, the caterer. You know, just get in line and he's they keep it keeps coming and so Jesus reveals the the the intention of their heart.

Are you only following because you're going get something out of me? You want food? You want me to heal you? And people follow Jesus just because, well, what's he going to do for me? Is he going to fix my life?

Is he going to make me rich? Is what is is, you know, all my sin problems, you know, my my kid out of wedlock, is that going go away? Just disappear? I mean, what is he what is he offering? What is he offering?

You're following me because I give you food. He tells him. Then he continues. Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food that which endures for eternal life, which the son of man shall give to you for on him, the father, even god, has set a seal. I'm the man.

I'm the one Jesus sent. I'm the Messiah. I am fully god. God set a seal on me. I'm the one but you got a problem here that you're pursuing the wrong thing.

We pursue the wrong thing in life, trying to fulfill that hunger that's in us to be filled. And he's saying, you're going to physical stuff, to food right, and health. You want me to heal you. You want me to free you from the Romans, but there's another issue there. I could do all of that, but guess what?

If you die in your sin, you're going go to hell. So there's something more important than me giving you food and me freeing you from the Romans and and hitting a sick person. There's something more important. Verse 28, the reaction to what he said. They said therefore to him, what shall we do that we may work the works of god?

Alright? And there's another thing going on today. Always has been. What do we have to do to be saved? What do we have to do to be right with god?

Absolutely nothing. What do I have to do? Every religion in the world, you have to do something. But but but when it comes to the Bible and what it teaches and Christianity, it's by faith and faith alone. And that's so hard to grasp because in everything in life, we have to do something, right?

Alright, look at look at verse look at verse 29. Here's here's what you have to underline this verse, please. Jesus answered and said to them, this is the work of god that you what? Everybody say it together that you what? Believe.

That you believe. That you believe. That's the work of God. Did you believe in him whom he has sent? That's all you gotta do.

You don't have to go and stop drinking. You don't have to go stop whatever or become religious or start doing funny things. You know what you do? You believe that God the Father sent Jesus to the world to be the savior of the world and that he's fully God. That's what you got to do.

Believe. Believe. And yet that message is so simple, it's just so hard to grasp. Right? But I want more evidence.

30:06 The crowd demands a sign

All right, Jesus, we want a better sign, man. How about you? Raise up from the ground and kind of float around? How fire? Let's see fire coming down.

Because you fed the 5,000, you healed the sick, and that was cool, but now we need a better one. Come on, convince us. See what you're saying? How about another sign? Wait a minute.

But I already did a bunch of signs. Yeah. But come on. A better one. Give us a good one.

You gotta read the sarcasm there. They're not believing him. They're rejecting him, the multitude. And so they said, what didn't you do for a sign? Oh, my word.

That we may see and believe you. What work do you perform? And then they come up with a Moses thing again. Our fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and it was written, he gave them bread out of the heaven. Jesus therefore said, well, before I answer that, here's what they're saying.

All right, Jesus, you gave us food one day. That was cool. But Moses, every day they had food. About them? How about every day we get this free food?

Just fish and bread and things. Moses was doing it every day. You did it once. That's cool. How about more?

Let's have a better sign. Can read into it? Can you see the sarcasm behind it? You see the rejection of him? No, we're not believing you.

We're not convinced. We're not convinced. And so we continue. Then Jesus answers, verse 32. Jesus therefore said to them, truly, truly I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you bread out of heaven, but it is my father who gives you the true bread out of heaven.

So he's kind of doing a play on words. For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven who gives life to the world. So what is he saying? Yeah, he gave you bread. You know, every day they would get up and they would find these little wafer things.

Right? It's called manna, and they would pick it up and eat. Alright? But guess what? All those people are...

Where are they today? They're dead. They died. Because because he's trying to address the crowd again. Your focus is on physical things, on food, on health, on on getting the Romans out of the way.

Let's make them king. But your focus is wrong. You see, god sent me the true bread out of heaven that that give you life inside. That'll give you life inside spiritual life. That is what god is concerned with.

He's concerned with your soul, your eternity, your eternity, and he keeps stressing that point. Right? I came down out of heaven to give life to the world because the world is dead in sin. Verse 34, here's how they respond. They said therefore to him, Lord, give us this bread.

What kind of bread is this that? It's going to always have me satisfied. I'm not going to be hungry again. Again, they're thinking physically, Right? And so look at verse 35.

Jesus said to them, I am that bread of life. He who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst. All right. So here's what I want you to see. So, the crowd said, give us food and health.

Give us, we want to make you a king. They said, show us another sign. We're not convinced and finally, Jesus said to them, in verse thirty thirty six, but I say to you that you have seen me and yet you do not believe. They never believed them. Alright.

So, the disciples, they lack faith at first but then they started worshiping him and then they finally acknowledge that he was the son of God. Now, here's what God's will is and God's the promise of Jesus. Here's what we're going to see now. And verse 37, all that the father gives me shall come to me, and the one who comes to me, I will certainly not cast out. So the father is the one that's speaking to you right now.

34:17 Promises for those who come to Jesus

Yeah, because this morning I ate. Last night, I had a nice burger. When I get home, guess what? I'm hungry, and I'm thirsty. So he's not talking about that.

I'm always... Well, I'm not hungry as I used to when I was younger, but you know what I mean. You too. Right? You might even be thinking right now, oh, my chicken's burning.

I wonder how it's doing in the oven. All right? Don't worry about that right now. Don't worry about that right now. Just say, here's what I came to do above all, to take care of your spiritual need, that hunger that we have inside, that void, what is life about?

It's about Jesus. Because life just disappoints you. Sin lets you down. All that stuff. But Jesus says, here's what you really need.

You need to have something that satisfies your spirit, your soul inside. So if you come to me, you're not going to hunger spiritually or thirst anymore. Those of you who know the Lord, you can say amen to this. Amen? Amen.

Now we need to put a little Latin blood in you people. Woo. Amen. Amen. That's like a little tan.

That's all that was. All right. Notice the second thing he says, if you come to me, I'll never reject you. If you come to me, I'll never reject you. I was speaking to this guy who was practicing you know, homosexuality and some other stuff, and I shared the love of Christ with him, and he says, you know what?

I'm so embarrassed about what I'm doing that I don't think God will accept me. I said, no, no, no. Look what it says right here. If you come to me, I will not reject you. There's no qualifying statement there.

Oh, except if you've done certain sins. If you come to me, I won't reject you. Praise god that those who know Jesus, when you came to him, he took you in. Amen? Lord, Amen.

Have mercy. Maybe we move you closer to Texas where the Latins are near the border. That would help. All right. Now, notice the next thing he promises, verse 39.

First of thirty eight, just for context. For I have come down from heaven, Jesus did, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. Here's the Father's will. And this is the will of him who sent me. You want know god's will?

Here it is. That of all that he has given me, I lose nothing. Wow. I lose nothing. But I raise him up in last.

Here's the next promise. That when you come to him and he saves you, you will not lose your salvation. He said it right there. I'm not going to lose anyone who comes to me by faith. Not a single one.

Now, mind you, in the book of John, down the line, he says, only one of them was lost because he never had faith. He never believed me. Who was it? Judas. Judas.

That's right. Judas. Judas never believed Jesus even though he was with him the whole time. Alright? So what...

Look at look at look at this promise. Yeah. Hey. When it when it says Judas, he screams out loud. Well, something's not right there, you know?

We're say amen when we talk about, he loses nothing. Amen. Amen. Oh my goodness. I'm going pray for you.

Glory to God. I'm going for you. I'm going to have more more intense prayer. Something's not right. Okay.

The next thing he says, and I'm going to raise you on the last day. Wow, what a promise. Look at these promises, people. That means that when you die, you're going to immediately go to heaven, for to die is to be with Christ, to die is gain, right, Philippians one. But that means that there's going be a day he's going to resurrect and give you a new body, and you're to be up there to meet your spirit in heaven.

That's what he's talking about. I'm going to resurrect you. Amen? Amen. There's no hope.

I give up. I'm just going to pray that the Lord have mercy on all of you. All right, next. Right, notice what he says in verse 40. It's important that we understand this, and I'm going to close with this.

38:38 God's will: behold and believe

He's going to raise you up on the last day. Now, I want you to notice behold and believe. What does it mean by behold? That means here's what it means. To observe, to look, to see, to draw attention to something, to scan, to survey, to watch, to witness, to consider, to contemplate, to discern, to distinguish, to note, to observe, to perceive.

In other words, Jesus is saying, take a good look at me. Take a good look at me. Behold me. Behold me. Am I really the Messiah?

He says, yes, I am. Am I the prophet? Yes, I am. But there's another thing. I'm god.

I want you to behold me, and I want you to perceive this. And there's the next thing that follows after that is what? Believe. So behold Jesus. Who is he?

39:45 Who is Jesus? Behold and believe

That's what he said. I want you to behold me, and I want you to believe me. I want you to believe me. And to those who believe, what is the promise? What is the promise to those who believe?

There was four of them. You shall never hunger and thirst spiritually. You won't be rejected. You won't lose your salvation because when I save you because he does the saving. I got you forever.

He's going to talk about that more down the line. And finally, I'm going to raise you up on the last day. Amen. Well, if you want to know more about this Jesus, just come talk. Come talk to me.

I'm too excited to talk to you about it. Thank you, Lord, for your word. Bless it to our hearts. Pray in Jesus' blessed name. Amen.
