0:00 Opening prayer and thanks

Good morning, everyone. Good morning. Let's just, bow our heads and give thanks for this time. Dear Lord, we come for you this morning. We just thank you for this time that we've had to worship you.

We thank you that we could remember the Lord Jesus for his love for us, what he did for us. The fact that he was the perfect son of God and that he came down to to die on the cross for us. We we just remembered about how you met us in our lost estate, who we were before you and you saved us. You brought us out of a miry pit the scriptures say. And you are our stronghold.

And we just thank you that we could remember that this morning. As we go forward, just be with us. Please help us and give us understanding by your Holy Spirit as we read your word as we as we read this gospel account. We pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.

1:02 Introduction to Luke chapter 10

Okay? So maybe your Bible's like mine and it's got the rest of the chapter right on one page but we're gonna go from verses 21 and through to 42. But just by way of review, I was considering how would we review this? How would we review the book of Luke? Just a reminder, what's one of the theme verses of the book of Luke?

Well, says in Luke four eighteen and nineteen, you might remember when brother JC Schroeder was here and he was talking about the gospel of Luke. He gave this verse. Four eighteen and nineteen. The spirit of the lord is upon me. This is Jesus speaking.

When he opened up the scroll because he anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, and to proclaim proclaim the favorable year of the lord. And so, what Jesus was saying here was that this is coming to pass right now. The good news is is coming to you now. I'm gonna preach the good news to the poor and it talks about these different kinds of people and in fact, connecting with the rest of the book of Luke, the book of Luke has many different types of people talked about in it.

The the writer Luke likes to talk about kind of these different people that are kinda on the fringes of society. You have women mentioned in there. You have children. You have gentiles. And so what he's telling us is that he's not just the savior of the Jews, of his own people, but he's the savior of all that would come to him.

He said let the children come. And so also he's been talking even recently in in chapter 10. We've been talking about discipleship. So as he calls people to himself to be his disciples, what does that look like to walk with the lord? What does that look like to obey him and know him and and also take his mission and go on missions for him.

We discussed briefly last week just in that hour with brother Bruce about the 72, about how they went out, about he gave them instruction. They went out and and proclaimed the kingdom is coming and and then he kind of did a brief... A debrief. And he talked about how to conduct mission, how to proclaim the gospel, how to meet people, how to be grateful for what you're given, to eat interesting food we even heard. And so today we come to verses 21 through 42.

4:22 Jesus reveals the kingdom to children

What what the disciples saw and what is culminated before their eyes in the gospel of Luke. Next verses 25 through twenty thirty seven. We're gonna talk about correction through contradiction and compassion. And I'm gonna explain more, why I use the word contradiction, when we get there. And then finally, when we get to it, we're gonna talk about central focus.

Our central focus as followers of Christ and that's in verses 38 through 42. So go ahead and take a look at verses twenty one and twenty two. It says this, at that very time, he rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit and said, I praise you father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, father, for so doing or doing so was well pleasing in your sight. All things have been handed over to me by my father and no one knows who the son is except the father and who the father is except the son and anyone to whom the son determines to reveal him.

And so here we have a prayer of Jesus. In fact, we're gonna get to look in chapter 11 and another great extensive teaching on prayer. But what is he doing here? Right immediately after he's doing this debriefing here with the 72, He's he's rejoicing greatly in the holy spirit. And he says, I praise you father, lord of heaven and earth.

And so as he as he prays and and is just an excited in the spirit, he prays to his father in heaven and just shows this great respect. He calls him father, the lord of heaven and earth. And what is he saying here? He's saying that you have hidden these things from the wise intelligent and have revealed them to infants. What are these things?

Well, I imagine maybe it's just all of what he's been going through. What it means to be a disciple? What it means to understand the gospel. Who has has these things, all of these teachings about being a disciple of Christ been revealed to? To children, to infants.

Your text might say babes. I find it no coincidence that my my son is you know, we're rearing him right now and so he's just a perfect example. Well, does that mean that he's just revealing that to like literal children? Well no, we would take that to mean those that put simply put their trust in Him. Just in this simple faith.

Been learning a lot about what it means to to care for a little one. And something I've been learning recently is right as a father, as parents, you're taking care of just so many needs. Right? Just in in the same way that the Lord takes care of our needs. But one of the things that I've been learning recently is that you know, you and I, movement's good for us.

Exercise is good for us. Getting up, sitting down, that movement. Running, walking. That's really good for us in so many ways. One of the ways is our lymphatic system.

So our lymphatic system is a system in our body that is a... It's a way of cleaning out our body. But our lymphatic system will not move. All the junk inside of us and cleaning out our body will not move unless we move. And so the Lord has designed us to to wanna get up to move and move around.

Well, my son, he's just a little baby. He can't really do that much moving. And maybe when he gets fussy at times, he kinda moves his arms and and makes these boxing motions and, you know, bicycles his legs. And I've been learning recently that this, you know, the swinging, that's why you swing him. That's why you you bounce on a ball.

And you provide that movement for him. And so I've been able to learn like providing those needs for him. And what he's saying here in this passage is he's saying, I'm revealing the kingdom of God. I'm revealing what it means to a disciple, to be a disciple of me. Christ to to those that simply trust and trust in the Lord with the with the simple things.

And and also I think in in expressing that, there's just this certain tenderness that the Lord is is giving to us. He he comes to us just in a tender way. And so he's calling to us and he's saying, I'm revealing myself to you, Those that are like children. Those that simply trust in him. It's contrasted with the wise of this world.

10:04 The wisdom of God vs. the wisdom of the world

Well, we'll go ahead and verse... Read verse 19. 19, for it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound. Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe?

Where's the debater of this age? Has god not made foolish the wisdom of this world? So, all that to say is, the lord is revealing himself to those that would put their faith and trust in him. He's revealing himself not to people that have this great wisdom of the world, not maybe to Greek people that they look after wisdom. They they look out, look after these new fangled ways or these new teachings but he's revealing himself to those that are like children that that simply put their faith and trust in him and just and look to him as their God.

11:29 Jesus reveals the Father

The Lord Jesus is revealing the father to us. He came down to reveal the father in heaven to us. I remember a story of you know when I went to Camp Laila Lie. I went to Camp Laila Lai as a counselor and, I was in the lean to and there was this young man there. He was 16.

I actually was still much younger myself. But he was sitting there at the fire. It was late and he was saying, you know, I went up to him and asked him, was like, hey, you know, what's going on? You got stuff on your mind? And he says, I just I wanna know God better.

You know? I want I want to know who He is. I wanna know what He's like. And I directed him towards the scriptures. Look again in Hebrews chapter one.

Hebrews chapter one. Verse one, god after he spoke long ago to the fathers and the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in his son. So, if you want to get to know god the father, if you want to know get to get know the all powerful god, the mighty god, get to know his son because what he's saying here is he's saying, look, if you wanna get to know God, get to know me and the things that I'm teaching. And and what is Jesus say after that back in Luke 10? At the very end of verse 22.

And who the father is except the son. So so God the father or god the son knows the father. Right? And no one knows the father except the son. So if we want to go know get to know the god, the father, let's get to know the son and and how do we get to know the son?

It says, and to anyone to whom the son determines to reveal him. So, who is it that the lord has determined to reveal himself? Well, this kind of wraps around back to verse 21. Says that the father wills to reveal the kingdom and all of these things to infants, to babes, to children. And and God's...

The father's will would be the son's will. That's what he's saying here. And so what he's saying is that I'm revealing myself to those who would put their simple trust in me, in in the Lord. In fact, he uses this this kind of idea, this tenderness again. In Luke chapter 12 verse 32, it says, he's talking to his disciple.

It says, it says, do not be afraid little flock because your father has chosen to give you the kingdom. So he he calls them that that little flock just the the tenderness like you're a little lamb. Like you're a lamb in need of a shepherd. So so for us today, we would wanna be like sheep and follow the great shepherd of our souls. And then finally, you have this phrase, it's it's well pleasing in your sight.

That's what the Lord Jesus says when he talks to the father. He says this is well pleasing. It's the same sort of phrase that God the father said about the son. He said, in him, I am well pleased. And so it's it's pleases the father to reveal his kingdom, to reveal himself to the those that simply put their trust in him.

He's revealing himself to us in Jesus Christ the son. If you want to do more study on this, you know, dynamic of of maybe the Old Testament, those, you know, that were in god the father's hand and then you come to the New Testament and we see the lord Jesus and you see this kind of transition. Study the book of John. There's a great transition passages and what it talks about how those that knew the father like truly, they knew who the son was. They knew Christ the Messiah when he came and so they recognized him.

But then for those that did not know God the father, well how would they get to know the father? They would get to know the son. They would recognize Christ as the Messiah and then get to know the father. And so there's just this this great dynamic but we don't have time to get into that today. Moving on to verse 23 and verse 24.

17:00 Blessed are the eyes that see

What he's saying? You're blessed because you get to see the end of all of these prophecies in front of you. You know there's other scriptures that talk about this as well. First Peter one verses ten and eleven and then part of 12. It talks about how many in the Old Testament when they prophesied all the church or all the fathers in the Old Testament.

They wanted to see these things and they wanted to know these things for themselves like to actually see them come to pass. It says, as to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries. Seeking to know what person or time the spirit of Christ within them was indicating as he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. And then in verse 12, things into which angels long to look. And so what he's telling, he's kinda looking at his disciples and he's saying, look, you're seeing all these things come to pass.

All the culmination of all these prophecies like just be gripped by it. Be excited about how you get to see the Messiah right there like I'm here. You get to see me and you get to see all these miracles that I'm doing and what it means to be a disciple. There's another verse in Hebrews chapter 11. Hebrews chapter 11 verse 13.

You might remember this is the great faith chapter. And so we have all of these different witnesses in in chapter 11. And verse 13 says, all these died. So Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the kings even, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, all those different guys, all these died in faith. They did not actually see the lord.

In fact, you won't even find who Jesus is. Meaning, his name, you won't find in the Old Testament that that specific name. It's not revealed until when he comes. But it says, with without receiving the promises, so they did not like actually see what was happening, but having seen and welcomed them from a distance. So what he's saying here is that all these people on the Old Testament, Isaiah, Elijah, they they wanted to understand and really like know like that's truly what it means to know, to see right in front of your eyes.

Even what John the apostle said, I've I... We saw the savior and we touched him. Right? He says that later in one of his epistles. And what Christ is saying to his disciples here, it's just saying like, look, you actually get to see the culmination of all these things that are happening.

And you're blessed, you're happy by seeing these things happen. I think that in a way, we kind of have the same the same thing today. We have the whole scripture for us today. The whole bible, it's complete. The complete reveal word of God.

We get to see like all of the different passages throughout, you know, four thousand, six thousand years of history from Abraham, from the flood, all the way to the coming savior. Even through the New Testament, we get to see all of these come to pass and what a true blessing it is to to look at that and observe that and just revel in it and and even maybe like the lord Jesus just did, rejoice in the spirit that we get to see these things come to pass. Verse 25 through 37. Said I would explain this idea of correction through contradiction. So Luke the writer kinda pivots around here.

22:04 A lawyer tests Jesus

So when you wanna prove something is true or the state of something that's the actual reality and that's the truth. Okay? You can assume the opposite is true because there's another law and logic that says, this... If this is true, the opposite of it can't be true at the same time. So what you do in proof by contradiction is you actually assume the opposite is truth.

And then in your in your deductions, in your proof, in your showing that what this is actually is true, right? You assume what the opposite is actually true and you do all this deduction and you say, well, here's a contradiction. Like, what I'm assuming and what's actually real through all of these logical deductions through what we're going to see the the teachings of Christ, the Old Testament, this can't be true. This thing, I've assumed that the opposite's true. I have to reject my assumption and I have to go with with what is actually true.

And so we're gonna see, I'm gonna try and do my best to explain here what is this lawyer gonna do. So let's read verses 25 through 29. And behold a lawyer stood up and put him to the test saying, teacher what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And he said to him, what is written in the law, how does it read to you? And he answered, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself.

And he said to him, you have answered correctly. Do this and you will live. But wanting to justify himself, he said to Jesus, and who is my neighbor? So you have this this lawyer that comes to him. Luke uses this term of the lawyer.

It was an expert in Jewish law. So he knew the law backwards and forwards. And what do we mean by the law? Well, the first five books of the old testament. You have Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

All of that that history of when the law was given to Moses. I mean, knew it backwards and forwards. I'm sure that there were so many passages that he memorized. In fact, the 10 commandments, many of us know them today. That's one of the best summaries of the law.

What's it like? What does it say in the 10 commandments? Well, the first four you have are your relation to God. You and you and I and our relation to the Lord even for this for this lawyer, his relation to the Lord. And so you get this idea when you read through these first four commandments, have no other gods before me, no idols, no graven images, do not take my name in vain.

He's saying and and then he follows up with all of these other relational laws on how you relate to man. He's saying, if you do those first four, if you have your right relationship with the Lord, you're gonna have your right relationship with man. And so, when you keep these other ones, these first ones having no other gods before God, you're gonna be able to to not covet what other people have, you're going to be able to love your neighbor. And so he he also just does a great job of summarizing it right there for us. The lawyer says, you're gonna love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Basically, with all of your being, like all of yourself, like your mental faculties, your spiritual faculties, your physical faculties, all of who you are as a person, love the Lord your God and then love your neighbor as yourself. And if you do that, it says, you answered right. He says, you answered right. Do this and you will live. He affirms that he's a right and he even says that if you do keep the whole law perfectly, you're gonna inherit eternal life.

Remember, he just said, the lawyer just asked him like the big test. He says, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? So if the question of who is Christ to us is if that's the most important question about God, this is the most important question for us. What we... What what shall we do?

How do we find eternal life? And the Lord accepts his premise. Okay? And for the purposes of of the correction by contradiction. Right?

The assumption, the opposite of what is true is that. What is he saying? The the lawyer is assuming that he can keep the law and and therefore inherit eternal life. He knows it. He says what the law is and he thinks he's gonna be able to do it.

And the Lord continues to to talk with him and discuss with him on what it's like and what what is the man's or what is the lawyer's real issue? Well, take a look at verse 29. But wanting to justify himself, he said to Jesus, and who's my neighbor? Remember we just talked about the law. It says that love the Lord your God with everything and love your neighbor.

So he didn't even consider or bring up the fact he that he loved the Lord as God. I can think, I think we can may and I'll I'll suggest to you this morning that we can assume or or kind of read into that and say, he thought he loved the lord of his god with everything, right? And so now, he's just saying, oh, who is my neighbor? Who's my neighbor? You can do a big study on what the Jewish people considered as their neighbor or who they were.

29:06 The parable of the Good Samaritan

A few things to remember about parables. I believe this is either the fourth or fifth parable. A parable, it's a made up story. So, it's just this consideration that the lord makes up and because of that, there's really only one main message to it. So we heard from John a little while back about the parable of the soils.

And one way to sum up that one is, what's the soil of your heart? How are you going to receive the word of god? Okay, just honing in on that good soil that the seed was planted there and the word of god was in that good soil and it came up. And then also you have the builders and this contrast of building your house on the sand when the storms came, everything fell flat, was destroyed, and when you build your house upon the rock, you're firm in the storms of life. The Jesus, the rock.

And so let's go into this parable. Verse 30, Jesus replied and said, a man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and he encountered two robbers and they stripped him and beat him and went away leaving him half dead. And by coincidence, a priest was going down on the road and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise, a Levite also when he came to the place and saw him pass by on the other side. But a Samaritan who was on a journey came upon him and when he saw him, he felt compassion and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them And he put them on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.

On the next day, he took out 2 denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, take of him or take care of him and whatever more you spend when I return, I will repay you. Jesus says, which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers hands? And he said, the lawyer said, to one who showed compassion on him, then Jesus said to him, go and do the same. So you have this parable. What's happening in this parable?

So you have this man, don't actually know anything beyond that. Maybe you could assume that he's a Jewish man. Maybe he's even a Samaritan. I actually don't think it matters because you're not given in any other information about him. He's just a man and he's going on a journey from Jerusalem to Jericho.

Now from Jerusalem to Jericho, it's a pretty treacherous terrain. It's actually pretty rugged. You gotta kinda wind your way through these different crevasses and and valleys and around these different mountains and things and so as you can imagine, there's many different places to hide. So it was very easy for him to maybe not see these robbers coming and he was taken on and these robbers left him for dead. If if we were able to see this kind of guy today, he's in critical condition.

He should be in the ER. Like he's gonna die if no one comes to help him. I mean, all of the things that they did to him, they kept beating him. They took everything. I mean, they took the clothes off of him and what happens?

Well, you have these by coincidence, it's interesting phrase. By coincidence, the lord Jesus made up this story, right? It's a fictitious story and he says, okay. So, this guy is laying here dead and who comes along? Well, the first guy that comes along is a priest.

Now, a priest, they were the leaders in the sacrificial system. Those those were the guys that even they as you would led in the worship of the Lord and and devotion to the Lord. And what does it say? Well, it says that the the priest, he passed by him on the other side. He didn't even walk near him.

And you could say that he should have known better. He should have known that that was his neighbor. Right? Then the Levite also. You have the Levites.

Now the Levites were not of the priestly line so they weren't directly like in the holy of holies ministering to God and doing those sacrifices. But they were servants. And so they were, you know, in the in the sacrifices and and helping out all these priests. I mean, they're probably you know, taking all these animals and caring for all this and you know, getting their hands dirty and all this kind of service. And so as you can imagine, this Levite, he should have been, he should have done it.

He should have, you know, helped this guy. And then you have the Samaritan. The Samaritan you might remember is the ones that were intermarrying with the culture around him. So when Israel was taken away to Babylon, there were some that stayed there in the land of Israel and they ended up marrying foreign wives. And so those Samaritans ended up being enemies of the Jewish people.

And so the Lord is using this example of a Samaritan that would actually go and love his neighbor. Remember it's a fictitious account but he's he's loving his neighbor and he's saying, it's almost like he's he's kinda poking and and telling the lawyer. He's like, look, even your enemy would know what to do. Like this extreme example of an enemy going and loving this man and taking care of him. He used his his his own oil, his own wine, his own coin.

He used his own money. Just gave everything. I mean, he took his time up. He he took this man to an end. He said to the innkeeper, like this was not smart on this man's part.

But he said to the innkeeper, he's like, I'm gonna go back and I'm gonna come back through and like if you spend extra money taking care of him, I'll pay it. Like that's an open bill. No one just leaves like an open bill. So this guy just goes way beyond to be a neighbor to this guy and you see this Samaritan, true compassion, when you feel that true compassion, it's going to result in an action. Okay?

Now, is is that just the point? Right? Is it is it just the point of showing compassion of loving loving your neighbor? I would say that the law and what God has already said in the Old Testament is a point in and of itself. Right?

We already actually know to be a neighbor. And because we don't know anything about this man, we know we would be a neighbor to anybody, right? We want to be the neighbor not who is my neighbor but we would want to be the neighbor. So that's kind of an aside point and really it's in the teaching of the Old Testament But what's the true point of all of this? What's the true point of this parable?

Well, take a look at verses 36 and verses of verse 37. He's he's still talking to this man. So which one of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor? And the lawyers like the guy that had a compassion on him. And he's like, okay.

That's you're right. Go and do the same thing. As you're going throughout all your life, be a neighbor. Be a neighbor. Would would this lawyer be able to do it?

Always, every circumstance be a neighbor. Well, he thought that he was, right? And so he was going to test the lord but the lord was trying to tell him through this parable it it doesn't cut it. Like you're not good enough. You can't keep the whole law.

Like you're not gonna be a neighbor to everyone. And I might even ask this guy. I would have said, okay, so all like you maybe you think that you've been the best neighbor to everyone. What about those times that you don't even know about? Those times that the lord knows about and and it's the lord that knows all of those things and so what this what Jesus is trying to get this guy to do is to say he's not kept it.

He's he can't keep the law and therefore get eternal life. We don't actually have anything after this though. Like what would be the real answer? You can't keep the law and get eternal life. Only the Lord Jesus kept the law and got eternal life.

The real answer is Acts sixteen thirty one. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved and then it says, you and your household. So, you've gotta get to a point where you give up, where you say, I haven't kept the law. I haven't honored god by the fact that I haven't honored honored my neighbor in all ways and therefore, I haven't honored god and loved him with my whole being and therefore, I can't inherit eternal life and so I need someone to pay for my sin. I need someone who came down and lived a perfect life for me and paid the penalty for my sin and therefore, I can trust in him and have eternal life.

It's kind of interesting that the lord would say, I'm revealing myself not to the wise but to the children, to the babes, to the infants, and then he comes up with this example of this debater, this lawyer, and and he talks to him. Believers Bible commentary says this, thus Jesus's statement, do this and you will live was purely hypothetical. If his reference to the law had its desired effect on the lawyer, Jesus's reference, he would have said, if that's what god requires, then I'm lost, helpless, and hopeless. I cast myself on your love and mercy. Save me by your grace.

Again, that's Bill McDonald. So, the whole idea of this parable was to convince this guy to say, you cannot keep the law of god. You need a savior and I'm here standing right here. Unfortunately, we don't get to see the end. We don't get to see what happens there.

I don't I'm not sure how this lawyer ended up. I hope one day maybe he he did find the lord and and turned to him and was not trying to continue to keep the law. And so there's that proof by contradiction. You see, the premise that the Lord comes with us is that we can't keep his law. He gave it to us to show us our faults that we can't keep it perfectly and that we need a savior.

The Galatians two says, the law is our tutor to bring us to Christ. So he revealed his perfection to us so that we would say and cast ourselves on the savior and say, I'm lost, I can't do this. I need a savior. And so we cast ourselves onto the mercy of the savior. Finally, in verses 38 through 42, let's try and get through this quick.

41:46 Mary and Martha welcome Jesus

For Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her. So when I came to this story to try and really try and understand this into a fresh light, I was considering this question. At what point in time was this in the lives of Mary and Martha? Like this little story of when Jesus comes to their house and they have this whole interaction. There's no mention of Lazarus here.

So when was it? Well, this is the very first time that Mary and Martha are mentioned. They're not mentioned by name in Luke. So I kind of think and I'm going to suggest to you today that maybe this is like one of the very first times like the very early times that Mary and Martha got to interact with the lord Jesus and so, Jesus was a rabbi and so he came into their house and he was doing some teaching and Mary, you know, she recognized that it was the lord Jesus and she threw herself at his feet and was listening to his teaching and what do you find Martha doing? It says that she was distracted by so many things.

By all the different preparations maybe of the day, maybe you know, she was in this huge habit of doing her daily things and getting prepared and then all of a sudden this teacher comes and he's going to explain a lot of things and he kind of interrupts her day and she's busy with all these different things. She's worried. What she's worried? What is she worried about? What's she anxious about?

Maybe she's worried about being a good host. Her perception like in the community about providing for the Lord Jesus. Maybe she's worried about outdoing her sister and just impressing the Lord Jesus with her service. And maybe even providing adequate payment because when you receive the rabbi in that day and age, you were to pay him. You were to pay him his dues after he was teaching.

And so, what what's the idea here? Well, later in the gospels, you see Martha serving again. So, she does do all of these preparations. So, why in that other account in John, you just get this brief mention of her serving and there's nothing else like it's she's serving the Lord. Why does she not get any correction there and she gets correction here?

Well, I think it probably has to do with the fact that it was probably one of those early times and what he was saying was Mary recognized what was important that this teacher was in your house and he was the savior. He was the Messiah right here in your house. Come and and listen because it says that Mary was doing the right thing and Mary has chosen the good part and it's not gonna be taken away from her. And so, you just have the Lord Jesus bringing Martha's attention back to the central focus of this gospel is the Lord Jesus is there. He's right there.

He's revealing himself to them. So that central focus Our time is getting away. So, let's just conclude maybe with this. The lord seeks that we would be like children, that we would be like infants and be be like babes, that we would put our faith and trust simply in him as him as our God, as our hope, as our savior. I'm reminded of this song and even some of the songs that we were just singing.

It's by Ryan Ellis, it's called The Heart of the Father. It says, I've never felt at home like this. Just like a child so innocent and I'm safe inside your arms because you won't let go. I've never known a love like yours. Let's just close in prayer.

Dear Lord, we're just so grateful this morning for this passage that we can come to you like infants, like babes, like children, that we can simply put our faith and trust in you, that it's not about worthly with early, worldly wisdom and fancy teachings, but it's about a simple faith and trust in you. I do pray lord that if there's anyone here that if has not come to you like a child in childlike faith that they would come to you this morning and express their need of a savior and just look to you as their god. Lord, we we continue this morning and just look to you. We want to be good disciples. We want to look to you as our god and follow you.

Just continue to help us and to show us what it means to have our focus on you and to be disciples of you. We pray this thing these things in Jesus name. Amen.
