0:00 Introduction and the Gospel
Very much for asking me to speak. I appreciate that. I just wanna tell you that I was saved in 1954 in Newport News, Virginia. And one day, I'll tell you how I got saved. But my message today, before I get into my main message, I'd like to say a few words in the Gospel.
Because when I heard the Gospel the first time, I thought people were kidding. I didn't believe that there is such a thing as full salvation. A person not only is saved, but he knows it. He rests on the word of God. So I'm going to read to you a few verses.
I'll I'll just refer to them. We have in the Old Testament. This is my short gospel message and I'll go into my subject. Okay? I'm going to speak today about the righteousness of God.
The subject is and with your prayers, you know, we pray and God's help, you know, we just bring that subject to its real place in the New Testament. Sometimes it's very misunderstood, you see. But I'm going to read you three verses. In the book of Amos four and twelve, God speaks to the nation of Israel, and he reminds them of all that he did for them, and he did... And they never responded.
Turned their back. He did this, did that. Finally, God said to them, he was going to bring judgment on them. He's not... God was not kidding when God...
What God says God God means. He said, because he's gonna bring the judgment, he said, because I will do this, oh Israel, prepare to meet thy God. This is a serious thing. A person must know that he is saved before he crossed the river. Before he crosses the gate of time, you better be sure you are saved.
You trust in Christ as your savior. Now how does a person in the New Testament prepare to meet his god? Does he go and do all the best he can and do this and do that? Not really because he's not gonna be able to because he is not really in a position to do that. There is a provision by god and will refer to it.
In the New Testament, why should a person prepare to meet his god in this day and age? Because everybody is saying there is no god. Well, the fool has said in his life, there's no god. But here's what we will read Romans three and twenty three. It brings us a a very important verse to rely on.
It says, all have sinned. God speaks to the Gentiles in chapter one of Romans, the Jew in chapter two and through part two, and he brings them both together in chapter three. And he said, verse 23, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The Bible tells us sin is a serious thing. Your sins and inequities have separated between you and your God and have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Sin came in, for by one man, sin entered into the world, and death by sin. And so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned. There's... And the Bible says what it means. As a sinner, you must make your peace with God.
You must get saved. The reason for, because you have an appointment with God. And if you read... If you go to Hebrew nine and twenty seven, God speaks in this wise. He said, it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment.
After is the word immediately after. There's a God you have to meet. You can't meet him in your sins. The Bible says very clearly, when the Lord was speaking in John chapter eight, He said, except you except you believe that I am he. I am the Messiah, the son of God.
Except you believe that, he said, ye shall die in your sins. And then further on, he said, but if you die in your sins, where I go, ye cannot come. And remember how important it is to be ready, because we haven't got anything to commend us to God. The best thing we can do is not good enough. What does the Bible say?
All... There is none righteous, no, not one. There's none that seeketh after God, no, not one. And the Bible says, all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. And our sins like the wind, they drive us away.
Friend, if you're not saved today, take it seriously. To die in your sins, this is a disaster. To die in Christ, it's a blessing. You're either in Adam on your way to hell or you're in Christ on your way to heaven. You can't die in your sins and expect some mercy someday.
It says, the son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins. After you pass the gates of time, not even the lord Jesus can save you. I say it reverently. It's on earth that he died for our sins. It's on earth.
5:25 The Rich Man and Lazarus
He saw Lazarus in Abraham's bosom. He said, father Abraham, send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame. Remember the words. I am tormented in this flame. Don't let anybody tell you there's no hell.
Why hell is the grave? Then you'll make the Lord Jesus a liar, and you'll make God a liar. Hell is a real thing. The flame, he refers to. Then he read back to him, he read it to him.
He said, thou in thy lifetime. Oh, yes. He fared sumptuously. He did everything. But he died in his sins and in hell.
Then he said, send them to our... To my... To see my brother. He said, he's got five of them. They're still living.
So that tells you immediately he was in hell because his brothers were still living. It's not someday. And there's no such thing immediately. He said, oh, they have Moses and the prophets. They have the word of God.
If they will not hear them, he said, neither will they hear if someone rose from the dead. Take it seriously. God is speaking to your soul if you're not saved. And what did the Lord say? You must be born again.
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. The division is serious, and the division is real and for eternity If you're not saved. The other thing that could happen, the lord Jesus can come and take all his people home. He will come in the air and they will meet him in the air. For the lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trump of god.
And the dead in Christ. Oh, shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain until the coming of all shall not prevent them, shall not go before them. He said, but oh, what a day that will be when the lord comes into the air. We shall meet him in the air. So shall we ever be with the lord.
Be serious. There is no salvation for you because those who heard the gospel, we are told in second Thessalonians, those who had did not listen and hear the truth, he said, god will sing them a strong delusion that they should believe the lie. Don't ever think, although there'll be a lot of people that will be saved there, but those who heard the gospel message, he says, none of them, he said, they were invited to the wedding. None of them would be welcome. But go ye into the highways and byways and compel them to come in.
Those who wanted to have the gospel preached to them today, who were told that Christ died for you once to save you, will never be invited again. The invitation is now, come now and let us reason together, saith the Lord. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as white as wool. He's inviting to reason with you.
Why are you away? When are you going to come to my son? See, remember what the verse 18 says in first John in John Gospel John? He says, for god sent not his son to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. He has the intent of god.
God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance And what happened here? And the four things, I wanna remind you of the great white throne. And in Revelation 20, and I saw a great white throne. I'm not gonna give you the description. He said, heaven and earth fled away from there, And the books were opened.
And everyone that died in their sins. There'll be no believers at the white throne. That's for the unbeliever. That's when their bodies will be raised, brought out of the grave, and their soul from hell. And they'll be united, and they will cast into the lake of fire.
This, the Bible says, is the second death. Think of it. But look at the bright picture. When should you be saved? Oh, the Bible says now is the accepted time.
Now is the day of salvation. Oh, yes. God is not telling you wait a while. Don't don't ever misunderstand it. That's not God speaking to you if you hear that.
It's Satan. It says, come on to me all you that labor and are laden and I will give you rest. And the second one is, remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth. Don't wait till you get old. Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth.
While the evil days come not, and while it's so on and so forth. And then he says, rejoice, oh young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart cheer thee all the days of thy youth. Walk in the sight of thy eyes and the ways of thine heart. He said, but know thou, for all these things, God shall bring thee into judgment. Not too young.
In the business I'm in, we deliver checks for people that die young, die old, middle aged, children, and have delivered many of them. You don't know. David said, I know not the day of my death, neither do you, but I know it's appointed unto man who wants to die. And then he he says, but don't wait till tomorrow because boast not thyself of tomorrow. Don't ever think of that.
Sufficient on the day is the evil that Think of now. Now is the accepted time, the Bible says. Now is the day of salvation. There's no tomorrow. And then in Job, it says, acquaint now thyself.
The word is reconcile now thyself unto him and be at peace. Why are you fighting with God who loved you so much? We thought that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. Why? That whosoever, that grand word whosoever.
Whosoever believeth on him shall not perish but have ever eternal life. Is god telling the truth? If you believe on son whosoever, put your name that whosoever. That if Sam Hadad believes on him, Sam Hadad shall have eternal life. You know, put your name in there.
That's what God said. You believe what God has to say to you. Don't believe other people. They said, this is what God is saying. And then what does it say?
12:01 Crucified with Christ
Christ died for the ungodly. Christ died for our sins. For what? For our sins. Why?
To put them away. Without the shedding blood, there is no remission. But the blood of Jesus Christ, his son, cleanses us from all sin. Says, he became... Actually, he took my place.
He undertook my cause, Abore my sins in his own body on the tree. And God judged him for that. But he was triumphant. For through his blood, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins. So believe when the apostle when the apostle was asked, what must I do to be saved?
He was told, what? There is something you must do. And salvation is not by works, but something important. They said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Not a mere man, he said. He's the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember when the Lord says, you must be born again, gave his son. It says, God raised his son. What is born again?
First John five tells us, he that believeth that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, is born of God. Faith in Christ be... Brings you into the family of God, makes you a child of God. He that hath... He that believeth on the son is not condemned.
There's no judgment because Christ was condemned for me in my place but he that believeth not the son shall not see life but the wrath of god abideth on him. You're either get saved or you remain under the wrath of god. So now is the accepted time. Now is the day of salvation. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.
If I don't pay God at his word, whose word would I take? So believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. I hope if anyone isn't saved now, we'll take it seriously and don't put it off. Come now. Remember, he wants you now because he wants you to come young so he can be he can be pleased with you the rest of your life.
He can guide you indirectly. You can have fellowship with him. It says, god, call us unto the fellowship of his son. He didn't call us. He call us.
He only saved us, gave us eternal life. He also gave us something unbelievable. Made us as righteous as his son. Can you believe that? That's the next topic we're going to speak about.
So I hope if anyone saved here will take God's invitation and will believe on his son. God is not pleased when you put when you put off when you put off salvation in Christ. He gave his son to die on the cross. And you tell him don't need you. Remember what Hebrews says, it's not sometimes you don't mean it in a bad way.
You just say, it's not wise to temper or to put God a secondary place when he wants you to come now. How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? He said neglect. I mean, just... It's not...
Fluff it off. It's not it's not as as important. Give me a little longer for the world now looks so bright when I feel that I am dying, I'll be saved, but not tonight. Don't do that. The lord Jesus died for you.
Wants you to come. Believe on him as your savior and you'll have the peace of god that passeth understanding. You'll have eternal life and shall never perish. Never perish. God said it.
If I don't believe god, who am I gonna believe? You see? God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should that he should... I'll read it to you. I'm kinda...
I knew that verse very well, but it's it's escaping me now. God is not a man that he should lie. It's it says for for god is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he that he should repent. Hath he said and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, shall shall he not make it good?
Has other gods said something that he didn't mean or didn't what he were the warning didn't come to to to pass and he didn't do it. The warning is. Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming. That was the wicked one that god was speaking about. And remember, god looks at all have sinned in the same measure.
They all need to be saved. Trust him and remember, what a wonderful thing, he becomes your savior. Oh, to have the son of God as your savior. Is there anything more precious in the world? Now I'm gonna speak to you a little bit about the righteousness of God.
17:22 The Righteousness of God
The word righteousness itself. 92 times. 36 times in the book of Romans. And the righteousness is the word... The word righteousness is to be just or righteous.
That's the same word. Just or righteous. That's a character of being just or righteous. We read in revelation of the righteousness of god. It did does not come until you read it in Romans one.
In Romans one and sixteen and seventeen, the apostle said, for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes. To everyone that believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith or by faith on the principle of faith to faith to those who believe. The righteousness of God. What is meant by the righteousness of God?
Righteousness of God is an attribute of God. That is how righteous he is. That is his righteousness. Remember the Seraphim stood before the... When they when they when that majestic presence, they said, holy, holy, holy.
It's it's hard to describe. It's the righteousness of God. It's not the righteous of man nor the righteousness brought out by the law. It's not referred to in the New Testament. It's always referred to as the righteousness that was imputed.
That's the righteousness of God. It's important the righteousness is revealed in the gospel. When... To everyone that believes. If I believe on Christ, I become a possessor of the righteousness of God.
I cannot get it any other way. God sees me in his son as righteous as he is. When you read about justification, I have been not only forgiven, not only clear from all guilt, but I have become the righteousness of God. I have become righteous in the sight of God. I was not there before.
We'll have some some more verses. Now if you look at at Romans three, I'm gonna read it in two section. First from 20 to 23, and I will say a few things on that. This is the manifestation of the righteousness of God outside the pale of the law. You know the reformers?
Some things they can get rid of. One can substantiation. The the second one, that Christ finished his work in hell. They all believe that. You don't believe that.
Neither do I. The third thing they believe in, that baptismal regeneration, that infant baptism put away the original sin. Nonsense. You and I know that, but they never were able to to to live by. And Christ kept the law and passed that to us as righteousness.
That's nonsense. We're gonna read it. That's nonsense. Nothing to do with the law whatsoever. The law came by Moses, but grace truth came by...
And truth came by Jesus Christ. Look what it says in Romans three twenty and twenty three. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight. For by the law, he said, and and it... For by the law is the knowledge of sin.
But now, he said, but now, the righteousness of god without, the word without apart. And the word here, chorus pneumo, which means wholly apart, outside the law completely, has nothing to do with the law. The righteousness of God apart from the law is manifested, brought forth. It's here now. Now being witnessed by the law and the prophets.
The Old Testament prophet, for instance, Isaiah, I'll read you a verse for Isaiah. You go to Isaiah 46 or fifty six and one. This is what God was saying. His righteousness was was coming. It wasn't there yet.
Because under the law, he said, but thus said the Lord, keep ye judgment and justice for my salvation is near to come and my righteousness to be revealed. In the gospel, it is revealed. This is the righteousness of God. This is his own righteousness. Even the righteousness of God, second verse said, which is by faith in Jesus Christ.
The righteousness of God is not coming to me or to you outside the Lord Jesus. It's by faith in Christ I become a possessor of the righteousness of God. And it's upon all... It's up unto all. That's its scope to all, but only but upon them that only upon them that believe.
It's offered to all, but no one comes and becomes a possessor of the righteousness of God except those that believe. I wish you some verses coming up. That believe, for there is no difference for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The Jew cannot be saved by anything else. The Gentile cannot be saved by anything else.
They say, except by faith in Christ Jesus, you become a righteous person. You become a possessor of righteousness, a righteousness of God, not your own righteousness. We'll read about those two, the righteousness of the law and our own righteousness in a minute. Now, if I want you to the second place in Romans three, we're going to read these three, twenty four and twenty eight. Now these are very, very important verses.
And look what it says here, being justified freely by His grace. We speak about justification, say by the blood, then justification. Remember, justification is by grace also. Don't deserve it. Didn't have it come by grace.
Through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. What... Through the... In Christ Jesus, whom God set forth to be propitiation through faith in his blood. It says it's freely, it's by grace through redemption.
Was the redemption earned by me? What did Christ do on the cross? There on the cross, he made what? God sent him in first John and says, here in his love, not that we love god, but that he loved us and sent his son to be what? The propitiation for our sins.
That word is the atonement for our sins. The atonement for our sins. He was sent by the father. He came to do the will of the father. And it says that through the redemption that in propitiation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness.
24:49 God's Righteousness Declared
The word is not remission there. For the passing by. It's only mentioned once in the New Testament. It's here. For the passing by, he said, of the sins that are past.
Where was the sins of David and Jacob and Abraham? You know, the New Testament tells us it was not possible that the blood of goats and bulls should put away sin. That's why Christ came. But look what happened, but God had something in mind ahead of time. He said, for the remission...
For the passing by of the sins that are past through the forbearance of God. Why? God forbear with that. There was lots of forbearance, lots of waiting. That's it.
Because why? And let's say that he might... Forbearance. To declare, I say, this time, at the present time, if you look other translation, to declare now at the present time, not in the past. This was not a declaration before.
At the present time, his righteousness. How is he gonna do that? His righteousness that he might be just and that that he might be just and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. What he is saying here, god set forth his son to be a mercy seat. The word propitiation here, the noun is mercy seat.
The same word comes. God had in mind way back his son as a mercy seat. He had it in in prospect. So he was able to pass the sins of the Old Testament saints, not bring him to judgment. There was forbearance because he had his son as a mercy seat.
That's why you have in the Old Testament everything Moses saw on the mountain, he said to do accordingly. And you have the mercy seat in the holy of holies, the cover on... The lid that covers all made of gold to cover the the the lid that covers the ark ark, and they have two cherubim on each side. They're looking down. Cherubim are the ones that prosecute God's government and God's judgment.
They kept the tree of life, man from coming to tree of life and so on. And when the whole priest goes into the holy of holies, he takes the blood and he sprinkles the mercy seat seven times on around the mercy seat, and then he goes out. Not only he takes the blood, but he takes his censor, lest he die, because the smoke should cover him that he does not see, you know, until... Lest he die. And the blood is shed.
And when I see the blood, I will pass over you. He made redemption through... You see, that is in Christ. Through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. So how God was able to pass that?
Forbearance, he had his son in prospect that he's going to be the mercy seat. He looked forward to that, and now it is here, you see. And that he might be just... The righteousness of God that he might be just just... And the justifier of him that believeth on Jesus.
How can God... What is justice? If God can forgive sins just because you said I feel sorry and forgive me. No. God would be unjust, but he is just now to forgive the sinner because there is a mercy seat on Calvary.
Christ bore our sins in his own body on the tree, and he shed that precious blood. We have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins. Through faith in his blood, he said, that through faith in his blood. And then he said, where is boasting now? Where can a man boast about what?
Can you boast that you deserve to be in heaven because how good you are? There's only one mercy seat. And out that, there is no... God cannot save you because God cannot be just, unless if you come to Christ, then you have covered by his redemptive work. Where boasting is excluded by what law?
Listen to this. What law? It says, of works? Nay, but the law of faith. The law is the principle of acting of something.
Can't just even like to say the law of physics and the law of the jungle. They all have meaning. The principle of acting by the law of faith. You become a possessor of that. It's not by the law of works.
That's not works. Therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith up without the deeds of the law. Oh, it has nothing to do with it whatsoever. His faith has made him just before God, righteous. That's the righteous.
Then we come, the law came to an end for the believer. And we don't even look at it sometimes. I'm dead to three things. I have died to... I'm dead to the world.
I'm crucified to the world. Let's say, and the Lord is crucified unto me. I'm dead to the world, the Bible says. I'm dead to the law or I have died to the law. And Christ died for me.
29:43 Ignorant of God's Righteousness
Speaking of the children of Israel where they went astray. It says, for for they, the children of Israel, being ignorant of god's righteousness. God's righteousness. Never realize how holy and high and demanding and how that god that righteousness is. And going about to establish their own righteousness.
Oh, what a sad thing. Have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. Going to establish your own righteousness? I'm going by heaven by my good works, or I'm keeping the 10 commandments and doing that nonsense. You can't.
You never did. Did not Moses give you the law? None of you keeps it. And if you're a believer, you're not under the law. You're not under the law, you died to the law.
You're married to another. Remember what we read some verses here. But then it says here, being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted. That's a strong word here. Have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
That's Christ himself. Where do I see the righteousness of God? That's Christ himself for any display of the holiness of God? The power of God? It says the only son who is in the bosom of the father.
He has declared him. I told him out. I see in Christ God's righteousness revealed. He hath become unto us what? Wisdom, righteousness, justification, and redemption.
But you see, if I don't have Christ, I don't have the righteousness of God. But look what it says here. Second Corinthians five and twenty one, it says, for he, God, hath made him to be sent for us, his son to be sent for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in him. We became the righteousness of God in Christ because God... Because why?
Christ is the righteous one. He made him to be sin. He took our place and traded places with us that we might become the righteousness of God in him, in Christ. Wonderful thought. You know, sometimes we think, well, I'm saved and all that.
And that person that sometimes talks, I can be lost, I can think. You have got the righteousness of God positionally. That's why the New Testament, they only speak a person absent from her body at home of the lord. Goes to heaven but the body, it doesn't say anything about the body. The body is not redeemed yet.
You see? We are sealed. You see, by the Holy Spirit, you see, the sealer. And we are, your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. But the sealing is unto the day of redemption.
Up to that time, the Holy Spirit is in the believer. You can grieve the Holy Spirit. He doesn't leave. You can grieve him, but he doesn't leave you. But he says grieve not the Holy Spirit by which you have been sealed.
We are sealed until the glory because the standing we have is we have the righteousness of God. When you say about the believers standing, I'm in Christ and in am forever. So look at the following verses. Then for... Verse four.
For Christ is the end of the law... That's still Romans 10 and the rest... Verse four. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. The word end here is the final determinant.
It's over. The believer has nothing to do with the righteousness of the law because in Christ, that righteousness came to an end. Because Bible says so, doesn't it? Because in Christ, not outside of Christ, said, for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. We're not telling people here, now you can go and do what you want to.
Nonsense. If you have the righteousness of God, you will what? We serve the Lord, the Christ. You were the servants of sin, but now you became the servants of what? Of righteousness.
34:20 The Grace of God
There is a reward in heaven. That's why we serve the Lord of Christ, to serve as bondman, bond servant. So that tell how grateful we are that we are in Christ, possessors of that righteousness of God. The law came to an end. Then he said, Philippians, look at the Apostle Paul.
Look what he said. He said, you doubtless, I count all things but but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Jesus Christ, my lord. For whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may know him and the power of... And I might add that I may have Christ or have Christ for my gain, that I may know him, have Christ for my gain. It says, and be found in him, in Christ that is he.
It's always in him. Be found in him not having my own righteousness which by... Is by... Of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. He threw everything away.
There is nothing that appealed to his soul anymore. He he is not necessarily he threw away, he said, the accountant but lost all the bad things. His Jewish raising, he was already talking about how he came from this stock of Abraham and he was a Benjamin and Pharisee of the fight. Everything good or bad, he said, he just counted all as felt what the the dung is a thing that offered to the dogs usually and count them that I may win Christ and have his sin be found in him not having my own righteousness but having the righteousness of god. In Him.
What does it say? Listen, what does it say in Ephesians two? It says, but god who is rich in mercy, remember, we're talking about something grace to remember, not remember mercy. For it says, but god who is rich in mercy for his great love wherewith he loved us. Even when we were dead in sin, hath quickened us, brought us to life, gave us life.
That's eternal life. Hath quickened us together with Christ. Hath quickened us together with Christ. And made and for by grace are you saved. And may this sit together in the heavenly in the heavenlies in Christ.
Where am I before God now? Am I here on earth? God sees me in Christ. I'm his righteousness. Christ I'm in Christ.
I'm not outside of Christ. We all are where? It says we were died, quickened us, because we were dead in trespasses, and when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us. When we were unworthy, and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ. Isn't that wonderful?
For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, the gift of god. Not of works. Lest anyone should boast. That in the ages to come, he might show the exceeding riches of his grace and his kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. When the angelic beings in that coming day, look at the believer in in heaven that they have the same glory as his son.
It's not we're all going to look alike. We didn't all we're all from Adam. We're all in the have the war in the image of the earth like but we don't all look alike, do we? But they're all glorified with the same glory of the son. When the angel looked at, they marveled that in the ages to come, he might show the exceeding riches of his grace toward us in Christ Jesus.
And what does it say also? In the following chapter, but now, unto the principalities, power, and powers in the heavenlies might be known by the church, the manifold wisdom of god. You know, the believer in Christ is a possessor of the riches of Christ. We are co heirs with Christ. We are glorified together.
38:57 Positionally Glorified
We have to be there. We're going to be like him. The angels will see that. And then we're going to speak some of our verses. I'm Can I have five more minutes?
Because I'll be done. Because it's already is it possible to have five more minutes? Yes. Okay, thank you. The believer is looked upon as risen from death.
And when we look in the New Testament, we have died to sin. We died to sin. Not only Christ died to sin, not for sin, to sin. I am dead. When you're dead to the world, you know, the world I'm finished.
Well, it has nothing to do anymore with you and you have nothing to do with the world. That's why when we read, he hath translated us from the kingdom of darkness. He already did it And to the kingdom of the son of his love. We are in that now. And then I want to view Galatians two twenty and twenty one.
The apostle is saying here something magnificent. He was talking to the people who have gone astray, have looked down on grace and took on the law, and he said this is a a different gospel. He said, different gospel. This is not the gospel I preach unto you. It elevates self under law when they were supposed to be dead to the law.
Look what he said. I am crucified. The word is I have been crucified. If you look in the in the in the original language. I have been crucified with Christ.
Where? When Christ died, when you take him as your savior, he took your place. I died with him. Sentence of death is gone. That eternal damnation is gone.
I'm dead with him. Nevertheless, he said, I live, yet not I, but Christ live it in me. Not only I live the life of the, know, in Christ, I'm crucified, but he said, I live, yet not I, but Christ live it in me. Remember what in Romans says this, anyone that has not the spirit of Christ is not of his. Spirit of God and the spirit of Christ is not the notion.
And then what he said, and the life which I now but Christ live it in me and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the son of god who loved me and gave himself for me. There was something that took place that brought me to him, that brought me to god. Not the law you're trying to keep which you had never been able to tell in the Galatian, I died already. Don't tell me I'm crucified with Christ. He said, I live.
I do not, he said, frustrate. The word frustrate. I do not set aside the grace of god. For if righteousness come by the law, the Christ died in vain. If anyone is still thinking that Christ the law has nothing to do with it, me keeping it, oh the Lord.
The Lord, he kept the law and magnified the law. He's the only one that magnified God in his walk here on Earth. But it's his death that brought me to god. It's his redemption work. It's his blood that washed me.
It's his love that made him do all that. But he said, I'm not setting aside the grace of god because you want did it. For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ died for nothing. I'm not in that group like you. Galatians are would have renounced the faith and you have gone under a different gospel.
Not the same Gospel, another Gospel. The word another means another of a different kind. And then the law is not of faith. Now listen to this. Galatians three ten and thirteen, For as many are of the works of the law are under the curse.
It doesn't say anyone that broke the law. Anyone that brings themselves under the law, they are under the curse. Because why? They can't keep the law. And if thou shalt keep the whole law, and offend in one point, thou art guilty and all.
There's no middle ground here, either Christ or the law. If you're dead, then the law is gone. It's gone. You can't say I'm under it. But he said, for as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse as it is written.
Curse is everyone that continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law to do them. If you didn't do all of them, you have a curse. Well, you know, to begin with, the Gentiles did not have the law, that's what Romans three tells us. Gentiles which have not the law, he said. And then the Jew had the law.
But then it says, but that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God. No one, he said. It is evident for the just shall shall be... But the just shall live by faith. Has nothing...
The law could never make you or make anybody. And it says, and the Law is not of faith. That works. The command to the children of Israel, there was a curse put on one mountain and a blessing on the other one. But the curse will follow if they did not continue in all things.
Said, all that the Lord has said we will do. Yes, good intention, but deliberately and with open mind and heart. They left God and wanted to follow him, Ashtoreth, and so on. He says, for the law is not of faith. Now we are the ones that believe in Christ, for we believe in Christ for the saving of the soul.
We're not under the law, nor are we going that to keep the law we become more holy. Of course, the principles of righteousness, that's what the grace of God teaches us. That doesn't mean we do anything else than that. And then we come to Christ our righteousness. We come now to Galatians three and twenty one.
It says then, is the law then against the promises of God? The law didn't die. I died to the law. The law still convicts and commands, you know, shows what sin is. It's still there.
A person can't say, well, I haven't sinned. Well, you can show them. For by the law is a knowledge of sin. And the law was given that every mouth may be stopped and all the world become guilty before God. That would...
Like a mirror for the unsaved, but I came out of that. I died to that. I'm in Christ. Is the law then... Isn't this the promises of the law of of God?
God forbid. For there... If there had been a law given, which could have given life, verily, he said, righteousness should have been by the law. Why did Christ come? You know?
He could have kept the law and passed it on to me if that's the case. No. No. The righteousness of God has to be just applied and given to me by has to be put in the way of all my sins. The blood had to be shed.
Christ had to die for me. Then he says, chapter five, he says, Christ is become of none effect to you. Whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye have... You are... Or the word is ye have fallen from grace.
You say, what does that mean? You can fall from... Lose your salvation? That's not what he's saying. He said, for we, through the spirit, wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
If you go under that principle, he said, if there was a Christ, he said, has... You have nothing... If if you're waiting to be justified by the law, he said, you have fallen from grace. These are the ones that were following the law. Why?
Because they went on their own and took on the law of Moses all over again. And Paul said, if I left Christ and came... Left the law and came to Christ, and then I leave Christ and go to the law, I become a transgressor, because I build again the edifice which I destroyed. Ah, no, he said. We are, he said, for we, through the spirit, wait for the hope of righteousness that I shall be with Christ and I shall be like Christ.
We should be with him. We should be like him. For we shall see him as he is. I have the righteousness of God. There was no law that could be of righteousness.
I am in that group. Where are you? And of course you know what the epistles of Galatians, we're not going into that totally. And then one Corinthians one thirty one, this is the last one. I think I'm getting close.
But of him, but of god, of god, but of him, of god. Are you in Christ Jesus? God placed us in his son. Who of God is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, justification, and redemption? It's God that did it.
47:56 God's Righteousness in Christ
McDonald said. His little book, if you read it, is wonderful. I am in Christ and in Christ forever. And they have on me the righteousness of God, not my own righteousness. God bless his word.
Thank you for allowing me a little more time.
